Can I keep a Silver Maple seedling growing over winter in the house?

Timothy Wood

Hey, just two weeks ago I germinated a Silver Maple seed that I saved from back in spring. Well I saved several in a ziplock back and kept them in my fridge from back in April.

Just two weeks ago I looked at them and it looked like they were trying to germinate. So I took one out and planted it in a tiny jade pot that you buy from the store.

I was wondering can I keep this growing over winter in the house or will it still want to go dormant? It s only about four inches tall with two sets of leaves on it. I was trying to save the seeds over from spring to fall. I was going to see if I can grow a maple in the during the winter months. Will it work if I kept in a sunny window? Thanks.
