Plant for drainage ditch

Across the back of my property, I have a roughly 250'-300' ditch, about 3 feet wide, and maybe 1.5 feet deep, separating my yard from the back neighbors, where the water from my yard and two neighbors drains through. In early spring it may have a foot of water in it, while in summer it is almost completely dry, although the soil is always moist due to high water table. I can't really mow it, so we get some tall rye grasses and such that are hard to mow and not all that pretty. I am considering planting something along there that could be pretty, survive the range of water levels. I have considered the following 3, but am open to suggestion as well.

Tiger Lily, Blue / Yellow Flag Iris. I know the Yellow is considered an invasive and could get unruly, but I mow up the edge weekly as does the neighbor, and it is bordered by a road on one end, so it can't go far, plus I was thinking it might have the best chance of choking out everything else.

Let me know what you think
