Smart and Final is selling in huge 3 gallon plastic drums Tide with Downy (P&G owns Ariel, as you know). All the writing is in Vietnamese, and there is some warning about Phosphates too. I wonder how and why this stuff is being sold in the USA, especially in California. I mean we regulate and control EVERYTHING!!!! lol

As does Pennsylvania..I found this in a Mexican grocer, a very tiny store crammed with goods..several months ago I ask if they had any old dusty bags of detergent hidden in the back they flat out told me yes but due to US regulations they could not put them out on the shelf but would sell them to me on my next trip in at a discount price..I wonder if this is them or someone stocking didn't know and put them out. I tried to inquire when I wad there but the man I need to talk to wasn't there and I didn't want to rock the boat. I have another load in now of jeans and lordy is this stuff good and very slippery, I'd say I could probably mix it with regular Mexican ariel and still have enough phosphates in it. I know as of the end of this year p&g is pulling all phosphates including in Mexico. I hear talk about Mexicos water quality and how they really need phosphates. I don't know why this stuff is popping up in the states, but its sure to be the last of it, I gotta get back and grab some more lol.

I still have STPP that I ordered years ago and I'm wondering if it has a shelf life.

STPP is hygroscopic and will deteriorate if not kept stored in an airtight container away from moisture.

Mustang, I order mine from Amazon, I get the 20 pounder for 40 $$ and free shipping, its the low density which means it was ground up more finely and disolves almost instantly in the wash water. They do sell smaller amounts, but it may not have free shipping.

This is exactly what I got today! So excited to think this could have phosphates-happy!happy!! Mine is Ariel with Downy and Ariel Original. They have more so I will head back soon.

Jean, I took a ride to Pittsburgh yesterday to the Mexican grocer, went looking for more of the phosphate ladden Ariel with downy, last time I bought the 900g size bags for 3.49 they were out of that size but had the 500g size bags for 1.29 a much better deal so I bought every bag on the shelf, 19 bags is all they had lol. They do have another store in pittsburgh, but it was rush hour and the GPS kept losing signal so I figured no way is it worth an accident, besides how many people drive an hour and a half and battle downtown pittsburgh for laundry detergent. .only a crazy person does that haha

I found Mexican Ariel on eBay but wanted to make sure that it contained phosphates. The seller hasn't answered my question about phosphates.

Jean..have you used the Ariel with downy and the Foca? What do you think? Haven't seen you in awhile, surely your not driving across the country looking for more lol.

FINALLY-back online-what a miserable 3 weeks!! Have tried the Foca and Ariel with Downy, although the scent of Ariel Original is perfection. Will report back later-loved them all!!

Jean I really like Mexican Ariel is yours blue with a bittersweet scent? For me it cleans exceptionally well. Theres also a Euro Ariel that I here is excellent, but I haven't tried that yet.

Did you read about my washer drama? I'll make a long story short..I bought a new GE top loader at sears, but it had problems, sears ordered another, it ended up being used, sooo I went back to sears and ordered a Kenmore LG front loader, also broke...next step SPEED QUEEN. I've had it one week today and I love it. But it also has issues lol...there's about a dimesize area of rust on the stainless steel tub and along the bottom sides a rough area going a round the tub, some areas are very sharp, that's where the tub was wielded, apparently they forgot to finish it with a buff, but the tub or the washer will be replaced, otherwise this is a great machine, it fills full on wash and rinse, has true hot water, not dubbed down warm, and has no locking lid. Yes my Mexican Ariel is blue with the bittersweet scent and it turns the wash water such a pretty shade of blue-just enough to notice. Excellent performer for sure. I've never spotted Euro Ariel in my area. If I ever get to Kansas City I will look for it.

I Think the Euro Ariel can only be ordered online.
