Leave it outdoors to recover. Don't prune off the top unless you know it's dead or can convince yourself there is another good reason to do so. Most growers have more trouble with buguglies indoors than out. There are a couple of reasons for that. The first is, there are usually no predators that feed on bugs indoors, and the plant's defenses are directly related to it's metabolic rate. A plant growing robustly outdoors is much better able to defend itself against insects/diseases than plants just getting by in a low light indoor setting. Spiders won’t cause any issue. Your choice of placement may though. These are high light loving plants and should be right up in front of your brightest window, not across the room from a window. It simply won’t do as well there. Does the pot you used have a drain hole?

Just got my fiddle two months ago and I've been reading up on this a lot. You can notch your fiddle to encourage branch growth lower down the trunk and you can also pinch the top part off (the green part not the woody part) and that apparently encourages it to branch in two at the top.
