Fiddle leaf fig tree pruning advice needed

Yeliz Karadayi

I got this Fiddle leaf fig about 2-3 years ago and it's grown much faster than I'd anticipated. I should have done my research before hand but next thing I know it's almost 9 feet tall at its longest, the leaves start at about 5'6" high on the two taller trunks, and I'm scared to prune it and shock it to death.

I don't really know how to prune this tree, even though I'm reading about the cuts and such, I just wish I could get someone to walk me through my specific tree and give advice on how to best manage it at this point. I'd like the leaves to start lower down on the tree but I'm reading that you have to cut above the lowest leaf at most, but I'm not sure if that will actually encourage growth on the trunk anymore.

Please advise!
