I just thought I'd try this site out for a picture. This is Euphorbia fulgens, which I've had for a few years and shown before - spotted it at Bunnings one winter many years ago. It's a lovely weeping bush, though, like most euphorbias, it does sucker but not unmanageably so; it's certainly not invasive. It brightens up the winter months, in fact, with it's brilliant flowers when most other flowering things (except perhaps camellias) are rather dull and dormant. And it's easy to propagate from cuttings.

It does look good. Don't think I've seen a weeping type of one before.

Here's a shot or two of the full bushes, Tropi. Perhaps the weeping affect is a little exaggerated in the bottom picture as the bush is sagging a bit because of the rain, but as you can see it does weep, more so of course once in flower. Flowers last all winter.

Both are different but both are more the same than different look into Euphorbia and it's bio- diversity to help explain more. Technically your asking about E.milli var. splendens Either by hybridizing results or by natural adapting splendens would be a variety (var.) of milli It's kind of like having two different flavors of ice cream both flavors are still ice cream, but neither are frozen yogurt. Though frozen yogurt has the same flavoring opportunities as the same two flavors of ice cream neither of them are eaxctly same but still have enough in common to call them (in any flavor) frozen treats. The differences from a E.milli var. splendens can be few or many but there aren't enough differences for splendens to warrant it's own classification like E. rossii which also has different TYPES that aren't variations of E. rossii

Most importantly is the plant inside against the wall all the time? This Euphorbia Ammak is a large growing tree and needs bright sunlight to maintain itself. Soil looks to be dry but they should be in a gritter mix to increase drainage. Is the brown spots mussy or soft, and/or smells funny. It is possible that it is still okay. Needs better living conditions. Turning brown or black is sometimes part of growing this white ammak. If you must cut, Use a sharp knife and cut across where there is no rot and only good stem. Have a spray bottle of cold water to spray the white latex sap. Sap is toxic and a skin irritant and wash right after cutting it. If you get any in your eyes, wash out with tons of water then go to the hospital for treatment. Let the cut heal and dry for a few days before planting in pure grit or perlite. It takes almost a year for new roots to form. No water can be taken up till it grows new roots. Google 'cutting my euphorbia ammak' for videos and more instructions.

I know this is an old post, but I have just seen this plant for the first time and am trying to get one. This is one of the few Australian search results I came up with so am wondering if you or anyone would know the best place to look. I am in Brisbane by the wya

Hi terryh7. Just spotted your posting while wandering through this site. I still have E. fulgens, scarlet plume, which is now coming to the end of it's flowering period - it opens up around April/ May and flowers all winter. I'm in the habit of saving labels and did manage to locate this one. The tag reveals that it was propagated by Fosters Nursery, Crabbes Creek, 2483. My postcode here at (near Tweed Heads, NSW) is 2486, so 2483 isn't too far away, somewhere around the Gold Coast, I reckon. Not sure if they're still propagating it but best of luck. Let me know how you get on. By the way, on the back of the tag it says to fertilise regularly during the growth period, water moderately and plant in a semi-shaded position. The ones in my second photo, planted against the wall of the house, are in the morning shade with strong afternoon sun. It's a quite dry area under the eaves and, well, I don't think I've fertilised them at all since planting years ago. Oh, also I do prune them fairly heavily (cut back 50%) around mid summer.
