Need help with kitchen backsplash ideas...
Comments (118)Here are 5 Fireclay color samples: The 1st three: Taken further away: (same exact order) 2 other colors: Further away (same order) From the top picture with the 3 samples, I feel blue spruce is too dark. Foggy morning seems like a good match - perfect shade of gray - not too light or too dark and it's a V3. Not sure what to make of French Linen (V2) - seems like it could work, shade seems not too dark and not too light. Weird thing is when there are no kitchen lights on, it seems gray, but when I turn my under cabinet lights on, it turns white. Out of the picture with the 2 samples, the frost seems to have a little yellow/cream in it which I don't like. White wash could work, but it's very plain, not crackled and is a V1. Just out of curiosity, since I am also considering the sonoma stellar line and if I went with a gray tile, it'd probably be penthouse (I still have to go back to the tile store and look some more), Here's a photo with 2 fireclay colors and 1 sonoma (penthouse) If I did fireclay tiles, should I go gray or white and which specific color? and should I do 2x6 or wave? I still have the hexy in the running; and the sonoma stellar line (which has all kinds of shapes I'm waiting to look at vs 2x6 with mix of gloss/matte)..... Too many choices! Would love other's opinions :) Thanks!...See MoreKitchen Backsplash Opinions?
Comments (2)Well, from the sounds of things, I would put a "stop the presses" halt to any backsplash shopping right now. You have so many competing colors among all the surfaces right now that you run a high risk of making a mistake if you choose your backsplash before everything else is in place. Let the renovation run its course, try to get your designer to take a raincheck on backsplash assistance, and then re-evaluate when you can bring in samples to the completed space to evaluate in your specific lighting. This would be the normal course of action and sequence for any backsplash choice, but in your case, I think it is imperative. What is throwing me is the apparent combination of warm wood tones with gray and black paint and also the gray and brown combination in some of your countertops coupled with what you are calling a "pure white." There is just so much latitude in all those colors to skew one way or another that I think your safest approach is to wait it out until you can see how things come together. You have warm and cool tones mixed and colors that normally wouldn't be put together. I can see this working out, but it is going to take some precision on your selections. Best wishes on your renovation, and please come back and re-post when you are ready. If the contractor is insistent to do the decisions early, please try to negotiate some time with him until you can compare all your color choices at once in the same lighting in which they'll be installed. The backsplash can make or break a kitchen design, so you want to get it right the first time. It cannot be pulled out and re-done without sheetrock and possibly other surface damage....See MoreI need help with kitchen backsplash!
Comments (5)Hard to tell...but, are the cabinets glazed? If so, definitely skip the stove accent. Glazing already dates the kitchen. You‘ve chosen colors that are blendy blendy. Would be nice if the backsplash had some color. Nice, deep pots and pan drawers under the cooktop. You will love the convenience....See MoreNeed help with kitchen backsplash location
Comments (0)Hi! I'm struggling with how to start/end our kitchen backsplash on this wall. There really isn't much symmetry nor any natural breaks for the tile to end. There will be a stove in the middle, and a microwave/range above so the backspash is definitely needed. I can provide more pics if needed! Thank you in advance for your advice!!...See Moreeam44
