I can't photoshop it for you, but what I did in a similar situation was print out and then make a reduce/enlarge copy of the photo of the light fixture I was considering and lay it on top of the elevation drawing of our kitchen since that was what I had at the time. The two small fixtures you linked look like hallway fixtures to me, and I would be afraid they would look out of scale with your table and dining area. I really like the last fixture you posted too, but it would look strange to me to be too high over the table. If it were me, I would wait until you get into the house, get furniture in place and then see how much the TV is blocked. The bigger issue for me is the sight line back towards the kitchen. I would still want to look at whether you could turn it 90 degrees so that you only have the 12 inches and not the 40 blocking that view both ways. It might also be far enough to the right of the TV not to block it. Maybe DH can love it that way? Just take your time -- you have lighting and it's past the point of having the walls open and not having to fix sheetrock or paint if you move something. I'm sure there are other things (like a move) that are more pressing. You'll get it worked out and it won't be the first time someone has moved in a house with something that didn't work perfectly. ;-)

What tile is that? It looks like the Arctic Storm from HD that I just this weekend put on my kitchen backsplash. Had a heck of a time choosing a grout color and probably went too light. Mines only half grouted and the other side looks darker. I hope it's an optical illusion (because the grout lines are lighter than the spaces that aren't grouted on the other wall) and not because hubby probably didn't mix the boxes (why listen to ME?) We are having paint color issue too. The room adjoining is toasted wheat by Behr (hubby likes HD paint), the current paint is a dark-medium blue. We'd like to lean towards green but sort of a greyish brownish green that's not too dark...Cabinets are white. Granite is Sapphire/brown-blue. Floor is slate look porcelain, so gray with some tan and a little bit of rust color. Your pic is sideways which is throwing me off. There is a pink cast on the sink...is that the lighting? Lighting can change the colors as well. I think it looks fine, but if there is grey in the whiter tile then you should change the paint to something in the grey family. Let us know what you choose and post a pic. If your tile is like mine then I'm looking for ideas. Also, did you seal it? I tried to find a color enhancing sealer but had no idea what to use on it, so I just used some plain old sealer. I'd love it if I could still use an enhance on it. It seems to still look darker when wet, so maybe with only one coat on it's not too late. Do you know?

With that much invested, just wait. Try some of these strategies like lighting, adding accent colors and stuff to the room. Live with it a while. If it doesn't grow on you, then decide. Money is too tight for me to hire a repaint. I've had three experiences to relate. One day while I was at work, my dad painted a room for me in my new home with a color I had carefully chosen beforehand. Got home, saw pepto bismol but no way was I ever going to be able to repaint right away due to dad's pride and happiness. I actually joined this board way back then posting for advice on how to tone it down. You can tone down a color you hate by matching it with similar colors close in tone. That's what I did with my room. I never loved it, but it became tolerable, maybe even pleasant. Second instance, my landlady went paint shopping with me and helped me paint my back bedroom. She bought what I thought was a baby poo color for her own bedroom. Even after painting it, I wasn't in love with it, but once she got all the furniture and the matching bedspread, and art in there, I must say it looked FABULOUS. Like a total different reaction from me from when I saw the paint chip and sample on the wall. It related so well to everything else in the room it was a fabulous choice. As for myself and my back bedroom, I LOVE my color on the walls, but my carpet makes it skew blue and I wanted more grey. I'm also not in love with it with my furniture. I like it though, I can live without perfection. It is so much better than the wall color was before, and it is adequate for what I want it to do. In fact, I wanted the color to do so much that the perfect color may not even be out there. My expectations were a tad high. I say, make do and then if after a while it just makes you unhappy all the time, then if you have the time and money, repaint. I lived with carpet and wall color and wallpaper in my master bedroom for 12 years that I hated. We called the master bedroom "the aquarium" because the teal carpet and trim was so cloying. But we had so many other projects to do at the house that room never got its makeover. Part of the reason was the previous owners painted all the trim a teal color and it had a LOT of trim, including a bay window and seat and folding closet doors, all teal. I worked with it as best I could. I had a "Miami Vice" bedroom, lol!

Wow, lots to take in and consider. I guess I've never seen honed black slate, but, I've never looked for it. Since DH works out of carpet and design stores, that's where I look for things of this nature. I did a google search for honed black slate. I like it but it really doesn't look much different than the Dal-tile piece I've chosen. I'm sure the texture is different tho but we like the leathered texture. There isn't as much color variation in this Downtown Black as I initially thought. I think we'll stick with this decision, but thanks for the suggestions. Don't know if it matters, probably not since there seems to be no love for the travertine deco, but what I was wanting isn't tumbled. It's hone and I chose honed because of the field tile choice. Enduring, when I had everything here, I did lay it all out and I've also done the "mood" board on the computer. I thought it looked good but apparently I'm clueless :o I'll go back to the store where I found the deco pieces I liked and put them together with the two full size tiles. One change DH made was to go with 2" inserts (vs 1") in the hone travertine and widening it to 6". I will also ask him if he'd like to consider something else. I realize there isn't a lot of contrast or "pop" with the liners, that was intentional, but it does offer some dimension, a little contrast leading to the cream colored honed travertine with the Venetian bronze tiles mixed in. I really don't care for the idea of using smaller pieces of the Downtown Black as a deco but I do appreciate the suggestions. mongoct, the faucet hardware is brushed nickel. I have mixed (brushed nickel and Venetian bronze) in my (very light) bathroom as well. I've seen that a lot in bathrooms and lots of conversations about it , most agreeing it's fine. The cabinet hardware and door hardware is Venetian bronze. All the doors in the house have Venetian bronze hardware. The kitchen (this bathroom is within view of the kitchen) has Venetian brone fixtures, a beautiful rounded Black Galaxy bar base and the same color (but tumbled) travertine backsplash. I would have preferred to use Venetian bronze fixtures in the bathroom. The decision to go with brushed nickel was one made out of necessity. David has had a dark bronze (can't remember what it was called 33 years ago) fixtures and I know the mess he can (and will) make. Going with brushed nickel AND a Tapmaster has virtually eliminated the soapy, toothpaste-y mess :) Thankfully, there is a lot of black and silver in the granite. oh, mayflowers, the flooring will the the same black tile as the surround. Like I said, I'll see if DH would like to consider something else. I know he doesn't want glass tiles.
