Comments (14)No argument with your Dr. Al (tapla) here. I recently had a similar (but different) situation. While up-potting a 2-3 foot 2007 unkown fig whip, it suddenly leaned over. On closer examination, the main twig and roots below 1 inch to the surface were rotten; my fault, guess due to over watering. I immediately repotted it, covered with a plastic dome and left in the same shady place. I do not remember, but I could have pulled some of the bottom leafs. As time progressed, all the remaining leafs yellowed/fell off one by one till only the bare twig was left. I then removed the plastic dome. It has been 2-4 weeks since this happened. At present 3-4 new healthy leafs came from the tip, and I just moved it into semi-shade. Most of us do not have the 'perfect' controlled plant envionment; e.g., GH, misting, airing, etc., and try to make do with what is available. One thing I just learned, mature leafs, are better than much younger ones (or older ones for that matter). Thanks. As one of the above piturces says; Have A Nice Day... Comments (19)Ravencajun, I have a question for you. I have my removable disk in and it won't let me safely remove it. The device generic volume cannot be stopped right now keeps coming up. I have my pictures on there and don't want to lose them. I use Ulead Photo Explorer to view them, I have been deleting extra copys on there. I did go to Task Manager and clicked applications and two things were running in there. 1.)Safely remove hardware icon gone in XP C 2.)Ulead Photo Explorer 8.0 F:\ Running. If I stop them will I lose my pictures? Please, could you give me advice on this problem. Thank you....See MoreWater softner advice request with water test results
Comments (1)Drain. You have been given poor advise. Discharging to your septic, provided your septic tank is sized appropriately for your home, is not going to hurt your septic system one bit. Discharging to the surface out in the woods, however present a whole slew of problems: 1) Freezing, as you already noted, 2) Discharge line that is too long, 3) Illegal, 4) Damaging to plants in the area of the discharge if you use sodium chloride, 5) Did I mention Illegal? Softener. You live alone. Buy a softener for your situation. A 0.75 cubic ft softener will be just fine. Should you sell the house down the road, simply disclose that the softener is undersized for a family. You have a bit of iron and manganese, so you will need to ensure your softener regens at least every 7 days. 4 days would be better, but any softener you purchase is going to be oversized for your situation so I'm not terribly concerned about losing some softening capacity - A periodic iron treatment will suffice....See MoreAdvice on Request for Quote Document
Comments (3)Thank you for the advice Renovator8! We are going to try to contact both of the contractors again to see if they are willing to bid without using the RFQ document. You are definitely correct about not being able to post PDF documents here... My guess is trying to copy it in won't work well with the imbedded tables, ordered lists, graphics, diagrams, and images. We absolutely want the process of the remodel to be collaborative and positive. Every project encounters unexpected issues and surprises - but as long as they are handled professionally and positively, just about anything can be overcome (it may cost some extra $$$, but that is what the contingency in the budget is for)....See MoreDave in NoVA • N.
