11 years agoI was so happy to spot this flitting about the flowers on Sunday...but after watching it for a couple hours, it flew out across the road. I am almost certain that it was hit by a passing car.

Comments (15)Nicole, we spent a week one night in a mobile home in Estes Park. It was during a hail storm in early September. The noise of the hail on the roof of the mobile home and trying to navigate through the streets is firmly burned in our mostly pleasant memories of our first trip west to tour Colorado by motorcycle. Snow plows had to be brought in to plow up all that hail so traffic could move the next morning....See MoreI'll Show You Mine if You Show Me Yours Tues July 19
Comments (28)Bob, that photo is really great. You should submit it to a nature magazine, like Birds and Blooms maybe. Oh I hate bald faced hornets. They are soooo aggressive. I had a bunch chase me the house one day and when I slammed the screen door they were hanging on to the screen! I inadvertently mowed under their big nest they were building under the eaves of the old outhouse. The spider in your photo with the green - I don't think I've ever seen that before....See MoreI'll Show You Mine if You Show Me Yours Tues July 26
Comments (12)Jim it may have had scents from around the world or the mail persons cat and it was so awesome Tony was overwhelmed and needed a nap. Lol My llittle Mia goes crazy smelling packages I receive. I can only imagine how many scents it picks up on its trip to me. She loves the 2 black labs next door they are good friends and visit each other occasionally. My neighbor shares a magazine with me that I enjoy. The moment it enters her space Mia is all over it smelling and an occasional lick might sneak out lol. Beautiful pictures and omg the pink petunias are so pretty!...See MoreI'll Show You Mine if You Show Me Yours Tues July 11
Comments (10)I love the "king of the hill" too. Looks like the one on the left front is laughing at the others. Never saw the blue poppies before but they are beautiful....See More- 11 years ago

The daylilies are still the stars of the garden. They are loving all the rain we've had.

I saw one Monarch the other day. I keep checking my milkweed (mostly looking for aphids), but nothing so far. The flowers seem to be a long way before they bloom.

I've seen several monarch caterpillars this summer. Captured one and kept it in a covered vase until it went into a chrysalis. Then I took the lid off, and about 10 days later it had emerged and apparently flew away. (Sorry if photos are previously posted.)
The gold trim around the chrysalis is beautiful. (Blurry in my poor photo, but it looks like little gold beads.)
