Too much cabinet color variation?

For our kitchen we chose Medallion Gold Potter's Mill cabinets in Amaretto for the main area,
and went with Medallion Silver Lancaster also in Amaretto for the back wall in the dining area. We were told the two were virtually identical except the Gold has solid doors and the Silver line doors are veneer. However, the color variation with the Silver doors seems more extreme and is bothering me - a lot. I'm wondering how much variation
is "acceptable" and whether or not I should request [insist on] new
Lancaster doors.

Here are some pics . . . .
Medallion Gold Potter's Mill Amaretto cabinets - perfectly acceptable variations in color

Silver Lancaster cabinets - to me, it looks a bit like a checkerboard:

Thanks!
