'Smudge-Proof' Stainless Steel Appliances?
Comments (40)The Frigidare Gallery series is the best!!! It's stainless without the upkeep. Windex and a paper towel and it looks like new. Almost zero effort. I don't know why SS isn't offered in smudge free. Over had my fudge for 5 years, looks like the day I bought it. I just ordered the Gallery microwave. They have matching handles. Love Frigidare Gallery!!!!...See Moresinks: stainless steel versus cast iron
Comments (10)I have used both, and I prefer SS, because the cast iron (white) always marked when metal rubbed against it. It was a two hole, 8" deep for both which was nice, but the divider was at least 2 1/2-3" wide. Since it was my second sink for this cabinet I had to go with a drop in, and the edge around the sink sat up higher than I liked. We have recently replaced it with a SS which is also a 2 hole, but the large side is 19" x 16" (I can fully immerse my large roaster/20-22 lb. turkey size)and it is 10" deep with a grid, the smaller side is 14" x 16" and also holds a lot. The divider is only about 1 1/4"-1 1/2". I have been using the new sink for over 3 mo. and I highly recommend it. Jane...See Morepolished nickel versus stainless steel finish
Comments (3)I have brushed nickel in my master bath. I like it because it is soft and warm. I have seen other brushed nickel that was not as warm, I believe, and some of the satin nickels I've seen were quite different so I never assume what that finish will look like. I know I've seen the brushed stainless but wasn't looking for that so haven't paid much attention. I would guess it is more neutral gray, modern, commercial/industrial looking. Nickel has a warmth to it which is why I like it. Some of the satins looked odd, though, more like a cool sprayed on finish. I seem to remember the term satin being used for some brushed looking ones, too. So not sure it's a standardized term. I would order one of each you are considering as different manufacturer's finishes will look different. Now that I think of it, when looking at appliances, some of the SS was warm and some cool. You really have to see the finishes in person....See MoreBLACK Stainless Steel appliances
Comments (24)SS is an upgrade from black for most people. Most models don't look industrial, and finger prints are easy enough to manage, they even make smudge proof appliances now. Lots of people upgrade one at a time, the mismatch is only really an issue at resale or if you're personally offended by it. You've heard all the pros and cons about black SS so now it's up to you if you want to take the gamble or not. Good luck....See MoreErrant_gw
