We have this terrible weed on an overgrown hillside I'm trying to clear. Now that I'm getting the poison ivy under control, I'm realizing that this wickedly sharp-thorned bramble is seizing the opportunity for a takeover attempt.

Does anyone have experience of making a dent in this horrible plant's territory? It's coming over our property line from the forest.

Right now I just cut it at off the ground and then chop into tiny pieces to bag for the garbage. But it sprouts again, of course. I understand there are large bulbs deep underground.
