Comments (13)To correlate with Jemdandy's thread on the Declaration of Independence and freedom, on our trip to Washington DH and I made a point of visiting the Lincoln Memorial. Along with all the other historical details, I was interested to read on Wikipedia that a "popular legend is that Lincoln is shown using sign language to represent his initials, with his left hand shaped to form an "A" and his right hand to form an "L", the president's initials." Comments (11)Uptown Gal - Thanks for asking. Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria) belongs to the Family: Lythraceae - is aggressive and invasive. Gooseneck loosestrife (Lysimachia clethroides) Family: Primulaceae - is aggressive and can choke out other perennials. It is useful in less than ideal conditions or naturalized. My patch is contained by a wall and walkway and has not been a problem. The showy flowers are pest free, attract butterflies,and make excellent cut flowers....See Morerob333 (zone 7b)
