First, Daylily Little Cadet. A smaller flower, but heavy bloomer that goes on for more than a month.
And Custard Candy below.

Liatris, or Blazingstar, is an unusual flower. The flowering begins at the top and works its way down. Not much fragrance on these 4' tall perennials, but the pollinators enjoy them.

Comments (17)My maternal Grandparents supported their family of 11 working the deep coal mine that was on the land they owned and where their home was built. Of course all the kids as they got old enough worked in the mine. It was wholly owned and operated by the family. That would have been in the early 1900's to about 1940. My Dad died suddenly at age 49, just 3 days before the letter came accepting his application for State Mine Inspector in PA. Heart Disease complicated by black lung took him. Comments (10)This red squirrel has been entertaining us daily for weeks in his efforts to get to the feeders. First he goes up the pole....no good. Then he goes into the shrub on the left...no go, so then he tries the shrub on the right, nope again. So he tries the maple tree behind. That doesn't work either. So it's back to the drawing board. Comments (14)I never think to photograph my ferns in a shady bed. Excuse the weeds as I haven't had time to get back to this area since early spring. First one is an Autumn Fern; second one is a new Japanese Painted fern I think last years drought got some of the older ones. And this is just a native fern I transplanted or that came up here, can't recall....See More

I have Rattlesnake Master in my native flower garden. This year, due to the on-going rain, it is more than 6' tall.
It usually does its thing in August, but this year is different in many ways.

Jim, that is an entirely different kind of rattlesnake than the endangered ones at Jennings Environmental prairie. Here is the one there. lol

These daylilies in our yard were growing at my father-in-law's place in Maine a few years ago.
My wife took a shovel dug some of them up, wrapped them in newspaper, and put them in a spare suitcase for the flight home.
