Texas Star hibiscus not so much a hibiscus

A couple years ago, someone sent me seeds for Texas Star hibiscus. Although the plant looked similar to what it was supposed to be, it recently started making clusters of small buds which just are beginning to open up into tiny and significant white flowers. I'll probably have to dig up the plant and dispose of it, since it's taller than me and taking up quite a bit of room. Anybody have any idea what it could be instead?
