Comments (3)Welcome to the forum. Wow. You are adding a lot of new roses. I don't grow any your new ones but I thought I could help with posting pictures. First, get a free account from a on-line picture hosting site like photobucket. Upload your picture there and then you can insert the picture into your posts by copying the link in photobucket labeled HTML code. Then you'll have a picture in your post. You can check to make sure it worked when you "preview" your post. Here is a picture of your namesake. Enjoy. Jeff...See MoreEchinacea Tiki Torch, My New FAVE Flower!
Comments (1)Hi, It looks beautiful, and if you love it, the flower also loves you :) I like to see the flowers in their environment, with soil and sun, and if possible, watered with rainwater....See MoreHosta 'First Mate' - one of my fave new ones
Comments (8)from Hallson's : Hosta 'First Mate' (Machen 2003) Clump Size: (S) 21" x 8" Leaf Size: 8" x 1.5" -- Vein Pairs: 3 - 4 Description: Leaves are lance shaped and somewhat wavy, yellow centered with a dark green margin. Blooms: Purple flowers with lavender veins. Comments: This is an improved tetraploid sport of H. 'Kabitan'. It is a good grower with a spreading, rhizomatous habit and attractive purple flowers on tall scapes. Like its parent it performs best in consistently moist soil that doesn't get too hot or dry. Light: Part shade to full shade. -- Soil: Humus-rich, consistently moist soil. Zones: 2 - 8 This looks really nice! Bernd...See MoreYour fave new plants for 2015
Comments (20)Off the top of my head I think Acanthus 'Whitewater' although not an impressive size yet has to be a favorite for me. Newly planted in my little courtyard it's still holding it's own, it's gone through one freeze, unending rain and it's still looking good. The 'Miss Saori' hydrangeas I bought are denuded of their leaves now, are still small and look like little clumps of nothingness but hopefully I'll get to see a bloom or two next year, then we'll see if I was taken in by all the hype or maybe they will actually resemble the pictures I've seen of them. Plectranthus 'Velvet Elvis' is in full bloom now in the greenhouse, I have to say it is gorgeous but shoved in amongst all the other things wintering there it only gets a brief glance when I'm out there seeing if anything needs a drop of water. In my zone this is a container plant to be kept over in the greenhouse. Hopefully it will bloom earlier next year in more sun then it had this year. Ohhh, 2016, it's a bit early for to start planning my want list, if I start now it will get too long and I'm almost at the stage to plant something new, I have to take something out, not that has ever stopped me from bringing plants home without giving it much thought to where can I can fit it in, I know my bad, but all reason goes out the window when it comes to plants. Still I have that little hell strip I'm planning of filling with sedums, I have some plants already and some rooted cuttings of a few beauties sent to me by a very generous GWer but I have room for a few more, I think I'm safe looking at the lists of those without getting into too much trouble. I also have to mention I now have 'Alma Potschke' again, that lovely cerise pink New England aster. I've been without her for several years but thanks to another very generous gardener who sent me some root cuttings I have a few pots of them wintering in the greenhouse, to be planted out in the spring.
