I am sorry about your drought problem, but your roses still look gorgeous! Miss Atwood has a beautiful color.

What a pretty rose Miss Atwood is, Ingrid. Not available here, alas. Your roses are looking very healthy in spite of the ongoing drought... Wish more of mine had done as well in the same circumstances. Just look at all the new growth on PGaA! The two garden vignettes are delightful- what is the shrub in the 2nd scene? I thought it was a crepe myrtle, but now I'm not so sure. I also love that contrast between cultivated garden and the natural surrounds in the 1st. I could look at that for hours! I also deplore the fact that a lot of rose blooms fry in the heat, but I think it makes us appreciate the perfect flowers all the more when they DO come and gives us time to appreciate other( lesser?) plants that are otherwise overlooked.

Ingrid, I know you're struggling with the drought, and your roses aren't doing the best they can, but what you've done with your space is an improvement even when things aren't flowering to their best. You've done great work there.

Karen, Miss Atwood is one of my very few apricot roses because it is such a pretty shade. I only see two or three flowers at a time but fortunately it is making new buds so that's a good sign. I have to admit I give it quite a bit of water because I don't want to lose the mature roses.

Melodye, you're absolutely right, that is a crape myrtle. I have another one of the same lavender color in that area which somewhat hides the fact that not a single rose is blooming there. That has never happened before. I'm glad you like how the garden interfaces with its natural surroundings. That's one thing I always try to keep in mind.

Christopher, you're too kind. That's high praise from someone who has created the makings of a really stunning garden. I hope we'll get to see more pictures soon.

Gruss an Aachen and Pink Gruss an Aachen have turned out to be my best new roses. I bought them as own-root 2 gallon plants at the end of January and they've been wanting to bloom since the beginning. Until recently I was snapping off the buds but now I'm starved for blooming roses!

Ingrid, you get to be justly proud of your garden, particularly considering the horrible drought you face. I agree that Miss Attwood is lovely, and the scene below her photo is breathtaking as always. While you may miss the profusion of flowers in the dry climate, your garden always has an elegance and subtlety that I can't begin to create myself. Thanks for sharing its beauty.

I'm pretty close to tears reading the new posts since I last wrote. Your support and praise encourage me to keep on, and I know from your words that your appreciation is sincere ,and that you understand what my goals and aspirations still are, in spite of the challenges. A big group hug to all of you.

Just breathtaking!! I especially love the pedestal with the frog overseeing his domain and what a domain it is! Your gardens are truly inspiring and the creativity that you have shown because of the drought is inspiring as well. Even in my state Massachusetts we haven't seen nearly enough rain and I am sparingly watering only the plants that need water like my big leaf hydrangeas and my baby roses. Thankfully it's been cool so far so less stressful on the plants.

Ingrid, your garden is beautiful. Many times when I take pictures of roses in my garden I don't show all the powdery mildew and rust of the roses which caused by not having enough water because when time is tough, thinking positive is more important. Hang in there Ingrid!

Thank you for the continued support and kind praise. At the moment I have very little disease compared to all the months previously, probably because we've had lots of heat. Diane, Belinda's Dream is beautiful in most gardens but in mine all the leaves, including the younger ones, have brown, crispy, very unsightly areas. The bush looks as though it's in dire straits, even when it gets plenty of water and there are blooms and buds. I just do not have normal conditions, and my BD hates it here.
