So, You like Balloon flowers, too huh?.I have a pot full, too,I have had for 5 or 6 years.They are very attractive flowers, I think and people are always asking me what is that?They multiply pretty good, too, and I need to move mine to a bigger pot so they have room for more.I love them.besides they are way past due for a little fertilizer and fresh soil.Its been raining here since alittle after midnight and still raining, some times almost a flood,(heavy rain) Love that Red Cherokee Star. its beautiful.I don't have a Red one blooming today.Stepped out on the porch to see if any is blooming, and King George has 2 big blooms,and Susan Weber has 2 nice blooms and Marietta Surprise has 3 blooms again. and 3 or 4 others with a bloom.Suppose to rain tomorrow, too, all day.Good sleeping weather.Have a nice day, Debra.

Jean - I do love balloon flowers. They are very long lived, and really hold up on the hot days. I have the short ones, the tall ones, and some double balloons. We needed rain, but after a week of it, I'm getting weary of the showers. Cherokee Star has an old fashioned bloom but dynamite color, and it blooms long after most other reds are finished.

I don't have anything red to post that I haven't already posted, nor blue, so how about almost white? 'Inimitable' with my purple seedling.

With the new posting system on Houzz I'd have to spend a lot of time rooting through my files for anything blue or white, so I'll just post a red. This is an FFO on Season Finale. Looks promising.......Maryl

Maryl - It's great to see Season Finale. I got that one last year, but it has not put up any scapes yet. It looks like a nice shade of red. I hope it will be a bud builder and extend our seasons.

Debra: Hadn't even thought about SF being a bud builder (or any other daylily for that matter). I try and tidy up spent scapes quickly, so the only daylily I've known to be a bud builder was Smoky Mountain Autumn which was hidden back in amongst other daylilies and usually missed my tidying efforts. Glad you pointed that out......Ed: That is a very pretty white. Nice form......Maryl

Maryl - If it's bud buidling, the scapes won't be spent. They will continue to be green with more and more tiny buds coming on the ends of the scapes. The bud building property is the main reason I bought SF. That's why it continues blooming into October in the hybridizer's garden.

Thanks for the heads up on Season Finale being a bud builder. I'll make sure I leave the scapes on for awhile. I'd forgotten I even had it until I saw a bright red bloom out my window this morning and thought who the heck are you? Nice surprise.........Maryl
