I have two squash plants in my compost. Tomato plants used to pop up in there all the time, but it doesn't happen anymore because I gave up nightshades some years ago. I'm glad not to see tomato plants, because I miss growing (and eating) tomatoes more than anything else I've given up.

My son's garden has some potato plants that popped up in the cucumber area.

Pumpkins volunteer every year. I dig them up, except one plant which is allowed to do its thing. I'll have 5 or 6 pumpkins from it this year. Already harvested 2.

I bury kitchen scraps and often have volunteers from that--avocados, cantaloupes, even mango. I dig them in as I have very little space to grow many vegetables. Have fun with your free plants cookie.

We have one cucumber plant that sprung up at the edge of the garden. I moved it to a spot where a tomato had failed, and it seems to be doing pretty well, although no cukes from it yet.

I have an extreme amount of cherry tomato plants that volunteered in my flower beds. Gave about 20 away and kept a few. Have been pulling up the rest. Neighbor came over to thank me last week because she has had rotten luck growing tomatoes and theses are producing for her.

Also have jalapenos left over from last year. and cut back to a nub. Didn't think they'd survive so I planted a Lantana next to it. Now my dh is complaining about the Lantana because it's in the way of his peppers.

I have sunflower bunches all over. At first, I blamed the birds, until I saw a chipmunk coming out of the garage with his cheeks full; the bird seed pail had lost its cover, so he was hoarding the seeds and hiding them in many places. Some years ago, I had a lovely "Star of Bethlehem" visit a shrub bed for a season. Loved it, but it didn't survive very long. I also had a large patch of Forget-Me-Not that I had not planted.. Neighbor also had it that year.....I imagine birds had brought them in......it's a real treat to get something unexpected like that.

Last year I had some squash plants that got flowers, but never produced anything and I had two datura plants (angel's trumpets) that I have no idea from where they came. I know they are poisonous, so I warned my neighbor and kept the dogs away. They were beautiful. Usually I just get snapdragons. I don't know where they come from either.

I also get my neighbour's tulips - thanks squirrels - as I am usually done by the end of summer and have no motivation to plant bulbs myself.

I have some sort of squash/pumpkin/cantaloupe plants from compost, also a couple of cherry tomato plants from there. I had petunias come back in a couple of pots...never had that happen before and last winter was really cold, sub zero for a few days. I also have a "volunteer" asparagus patch that's 3 years old and is starting to get productive in spring. I have lots of dill...I planted some about 5 years ago, and it comes back every spring. I also have more than my share of poison ivy, thanks to birds.

A few things but the worst is dill. In my flower garden. I yanked out about 3/4 and will pull the rest when it looks like the seeds are popping.

Every year I grow heirloom tomatoes in my garden. I've found volunteer tomatoes vines all over- even growing in the cracks of the bricks on my patio.

Mine are lilies in the back and heather in the front.

I just noticed today that my neighbours Holly bush is growing in the middle of my lawn. I'm not impressed.

I compost kitchen green waste, but am usually careful about avoiding tomato or chili seeds. Apparently I didn't realize how easily tomatillos grow from seed. A lot of those have sprouted in the garden. But I cannot say I really mind--free tomatillos! :)

LoL this is timely. I was just saying yesterday, that none of the flower seeds I'd planted in pots came up, but I have volunteer strawflowers from last year going gangbusters. Also lettuce and cilantro volunteers. I found a tiny ice plant in with my hen and chicks yesterday too.

The problem I have had with volunteers is figuring out what they are, especially when they look a lot alike. I can't tell if the plant is summer or winter squash, melon, cuke, pumpkin, or watemelon. Or even gourds. I have to wait till they have fruit growing and even then it is a surprise. I have lots volunteer lettuce, cheery tomatoes (18 plants), sweet peppers, celery, potatoes, sunflowers and other flowers. The worse is fennel, you can't get rid of it. DH calls it, the plant from HE!!. It pops up everywhere.

We have 4O'clocks that have reseeded themselves for the past 20 years. They are just beautiful. Every year we think they won't be back but they keep coming year after year. Pretty yellow, pink and purple blooms. Sadly they bloom only in the early morning are in full bloom when we get up.

I forgot to mention my abundance of hollyhocks. I had quite a few that just appeared in the hosta bed, so I just left them to blossom. But this spring they are more than welcome...I lost a number of my larger hostas to lack of snow cover, so this year the hollyhocks are earning their keep.

Reseeded: one hollyhock, a few marigolds, a few morning glories, campanula glomerata is coming up in the lawn, queen Annes Lace gets pulled and still manages to reseed....everywhere~! The lupines reseed and get thicker every year. They're in the neighbors garden now too. :0) The pink perennial bachelor button reseeded itself and has moved down the hill this year. A squirrel has planted sunflower seeds all over ......I have chives growing in the brick patio....

With all the rain we've had it's a jungle! :0)

This year...seeds from the neighbor's Norway Maple have filled my yard with seedlings. I believe that I have pulled at least 500! And, for the second year in a row petunias have re-seeded themselves. Such a surprise.
For several years, I have had fall-blooming asters that toss their seeds everywhere. This year I dug them up and replanted them near the detention basin behind my house. In three or four years that entire area should be asters.

Sun Flowers from the winter bird seed, Morning glories,tomatoes,and all sorts of wild flowers blow in. One man's weed is another mans flower!!

I'm not much of a gardener. At my last house, though, I had volunteer tomato plants because birds would eat from the trash at the local fast food places and then drop perfectly fertilized seeds into my flower beds.
