Just when you think they aren't any more surprises.........
Comments (4)Well, this is more of a re-discovery I guess. For the past 3 summers we have been painting our exterior (basically done as of this Sept). The new paint job has proven how out of place the aluminum storm door on the kitchen looks. I knew the original wood storm door was in the basement, and plan to repaint and replace that in the Spring. BUT, we also have an aluminum storm door on an exit to the balcony off of our second floor master bedroom. It doesn't bother me as much, because from the front of the house it basically matches the 3 aluminum storm windows that are also on the front of the house, if you don't look too closely. A few weeks ago I was in the attic digging through clothes bins for the kids and realized that there is a wooden storm door up there too ~ the only place I can figure it came from is that bedroom door! Yay ~ I never gave that old door a second thought until that moment. We have lived in our house for over 12 years. All of the original storm windows were in the basement, broken off double-hung window weights are in the attic and the original swinging door from the kitchen/pantry are in the attic... I just never noticed that wood storm door before. So now I guess I will have 2 wooden doors to re-paint this spring ;)...See MoreJust purchased cafe appliances in matte white. Sides are black
Comments (30)I did have a custom kitchen design and discussed the issue of the black sides when I purchased the refridgerator. My contractor did build it in but it still could not be built in enough to not show some edge ( about 5 inches) without making the upper cabinets look off. I do feel this is a poor design choice by GE. This is not an inexpensive appliance and spending another 350.00 per side to cover it is excessive....See MoreBlack window trim? Just painted my house white (from mustard yellow)
Comments (17)Wow, it really looks great! I know you just got rid of yellow on your house but have you considered a yellow door? It could be a homage to the old color and be a really great modern pop. Here's a mock-up of black window trim. I'm not a fan of the extreme contrast here. Not sure I like it as much as say, black windows. Your windows look like they are in good condition and don't need replacing, so that doesn't seem like a viable option....See MoreShoji white walls with bold accent wall: color for trim and ceiling?
Comments (2)Hi sorry no one has answered yet, did you go through with anything yet? I think it’s not easy giving advice on white without being there in person. However, there can be some clues like lighting conditions / direction of window facing, uou said you are using terracotta, so you can find something with an orange, red or yellow undertone in it and avoid anything with blue or green… unless you want it to stick out. I think you getting samples is a great idea. I found light colors arent easy because it can have indertones that you might or might not expect to show up & can look dofferent from room to room. Shoji white I think has green undertones, but depending on the light snd surroundings, it can look different. you can see how you like it and maybe play with some color cards on the fsn deck first and look at the darker version on each to see what undertones are at play, but thats just the start. Do update when your finished!...See Moreworthy
