FL detergent, what do you recommend?
Comments (150)I conducted a test this weekend pitting Tide HE powder against Persil. For raw cleaning power, you can't beat Tide HE. However, if allergies are your concern or you suffer from sensitivity issues, Persil does rinse cleaner and with almost no residual scent. You'll encounter some people who will claim Persil to be some kind of miracle detergent, but honestly it's just a big waste of money unless you are married to its other qualities -- less scent, better rinsing. In my test, Tide HE outcleaned Persil hands-down, and Persil even contains oxy bleach which gives it an unfair advantage that was not realized in my tests. Anyone who prefers Persil for its "superior" or "amazing" cleaning ability is just fooling themselves, in my opinion. I welcome those people to conduct a test of their own to show how well Persil cleans versus the leading domestic brand. Step up. Comments (32)So, Chris and I have been working hard and have finally come up with my final pool rendering. The pavers and coping aren't exactly the colors we are looking at, but everything else is pretty much exactly what we are looking at. This revision might look a lot like the last rendering I posted, but it is different. We added people into the rendering so we could get a better perspective of space, we reduced the patio size and slightly reduced the spa size. We also added a paver boarder around the patio. We are looking at approximately 1300 sq feet of patio, approx 600 sq ft of pool and a 48 sq ft spa. We are going to restart the bidding process with 3 builders and we hope to have construction started in the next 2-3 weeks!...See MoreDetergent recommendations for FL'ers
Comments (35)"it does not spin between the wash and rinse." I think it is probably another Energy Star "idea" to conserve more water in the disguise of a traditional looking top loader. I vaguely recall a mention or two on one of the FLer threads that some of the newest models are attaining that highest energy/water conservation level by eliminating interim spins between washes and rinses on additional cycles (other than delicate & hand wash)--ones that are traditionally thought to be more "regular" such as normal, heavy duty, .... I think Towels cycles may be one of the few that has not been messed with traditional rinse & spin sequences inn cycles. It's getting to the point I want to see all this insane conservation stuff abolished. The usual unsuspecting people who just throw the wash in and come back when its finish with their new washer and they begin itching due to poorly rinsed fabrics. and unfortunately the machine is going to be blamed and perceived as a piece of junk. Or they figure out what the issue is and begin doing multiple added rinses or simply starts a quick wash at the end of the previous cycle to get better rinsing. Kind of akin to when phosphates were removed from dishwasher detergents and cleaning results tanked and people were blaming the machine and replacing with new models that still yielded poor results. (And my next oldest sister was one of those with the dishwasher ""issue". She put up with it for almost a year and then commented to me her "problem". I told her about the reformulated detergents. Her solution, she began washing all her dishes and stuff by hand. So much for water conservation....See MoreGreat news about ALL powder detergent!
Comments (56)I have a GE Profile Top Load (2006) with very good agitation. This is an update. Over the past 3 weeks I have stopped using the All Free Powder & Borax. I bought the bottle of the Persil Sensitive White (that I had used before), the Tide Free & Gentle HE Liquid (small bottle), and Tide Free & Gentle Pods (31 ct). Since using these three products over the past few weeks I have noticed a few things. First off, all of the clean about the same. I have a blue T-Shirt (that I wear often) and the All Powder never could get grease/food stains out when eating-out. Two weeks ago it got some spots on it, so when I got home I did all the cloths wash with a Tide F/G Pods, and the spots came out. I was actually amazed since this doesn't happen when using the All Powder. I have washed two loads of towels, once with the Persil liquid and once with the Tide F/G Pods, and both times noticed they came out of the dryer feeling "softer" and not as rough/scratchy as when using the All Powder. The Tide F/G Liquid cleans well too, but is very runny (watery), and I think the Pods may do a better job. The Persil Sensitive is thicker (like white glue) so I'm always wondering how well it dissolves in the wash and if it will leave any residue, but it also cleans good, though there is a bit more scent from it. I looked at all of the ingredients and the All Free Powder doesn't really list what's all in there or the types of enzymes. The Persil Sensitive has 20 ingredients with 4 enzymes (protease, amylase, cellulase, mannanase). Tide Free Gentle HE Liquid has 26 ingredients with 3 enzymes (subtilisin, amylase, mannanase). Tide Free Gentle Pods as 23 ingredients and with the same 3 enzymes (subtilisin, amylase, mannanase). Lastly, I have noticed over the past few weeks, that the Walmart Super Store that I go to has been out of the All Free Powder. There's just an empty space, but the shelf tag is still there....See Moremamapinky0
