Raccoons and Artificial Plants; Looking for Imitation Water Hyacinths

Hi,

For years, I tried everything I could think of (including coyote urine power) to thwart those masked bandits--raccoons--that would visit our pond each night, looking for juicy hyacinths to eat.

I'm finally resorting to using artificial water plants and have ordered some imitation flowered water lilies.

My first question: Has anyone used artificial plants with raccoons; and, if so, did it work? Or do the wascally waccoons simply destroy them out of spite?

Second question: There are a lot of artificial water lilies for sale on the net, but water hyacinths are rare. Does anyone know of an online store that has nice-looking ones?

Thanks,
Bill
