Dacor 48" range? Or Miele?

I'm remodeling my kitchen and am looking for a 48" range. I only want burners, I have no use for a griddle or grill so that's limiting my choices. I really like the new Dacor discovery that came out this year because it has 6 large burners. I've read some horrible reviews about Dacor products and am wondering what your experiences have been. Anyone happen to have the new discovery?

I also looked at the Miele, but the warming drawer makes the 2nd oven almost useless. Their new range is nice but the Dacor seems to have the edge in features.

Bluestar has an 8 burner but I'm not sure open burners are for me.

Viking is out, every store I've been to tells me they are not the way to go.

I don't have either but I can say that I've never heard anyone have something good to say about Dacor. I'd avoid it just based on the unanimity of people's opinions. That's pretty rare.

Also, I was actually kind of excited about the android-powered Discovery appliances. Then I kicked the tires and found that it is absolute garbage. It's running on an old outdated version of the Android OS (I don't remember which) and it allows you to install whatever you want from the Play store with no contingency plans for crashes.

Android is far from perfectly stable. It will hand and it will crash, especially if you install apps that increase the instability of your device. These appliances have no contingency plans for crashing. If the Android tablet crashes you're going to burn your food and possibly cause a fire.

Also the recipe database was extremely limited. There was one or two options for each kind of food (chicken, fish, etc.) which is kind of ridiculous. It's the clunkiest piece of technology I've seen on a kitchen appliance. Total garbage.

You will get more responses in the Appliance Forum. In general, no one I know has had any luck with Dacor.

There have always been very few reviews of Dacor on here. The ones that do exist are extremely mixed. Wekick and some others had horrible experiences, but I did read a couple reviews from people who bought the ovens a few years later and were ultimately happy with them. However, I definitely think Miele is the safer bet here. Though their range is brand new and there are barely any reviews, overall feedback on Miele's ovens has been almost uniformly good in the past, with the exception of one temperature control issue which was fixed years ago. I'm surprised you think Dacor has the edge in features! Miele has a motorized rotisserie, wireless probe, moist assist in the big oven, and the small oven is a full blown speed oven that can also function as a microwave! It is a little bit smaller than the conventional oven on most 48" ranges, but in my opinion FAR more useful, and it shouldn't be any smaller than their wall mount speed oven. I agree with wekick, the fact that you even mentioned Bluestar suggests you need to do more research on open vs. sealed burners and gas vs. electric ovens. It's an apples to oranges comparison.

Miele with griddle or Dacor 48 inch gas range top

I am getting a 48 inch gas range top. I have narrowed it down to the Miele with built in griddle (mostly because it matches the Miele Steam Oven and Miele microwave) or the Dacor all burner with removable griddle. I like the larger size grates on the Dacor. I wonder how useful the griddle is and how easy it is to keep clean.

Dacor 48" Range door won't close - already has new hinges

I just bought a used 48" Dacor range. The larger oven door will not close completely. It stays open about 1" at the top. I took it apart and it seems that it has brand new hinges in it. Is it possible they purchased the wrong ones? How do I find the correct ones? Is there a way to confirm the model?

I am looking at the Miele HR 1954 DF and was super impressed with all the features, the convection/microwave and heating tray and super cool electronics. EXCEPT - the standard oven looks sooo small. Can you fit a standard cookie sheet in there? I couldn’t find any dimensions on it and was wondering if its the equivalent of a 27” oven or?

Neither. If you don't want open burners, then the sealed burner Wolf is your best bet.
