BM Advance paint chipping off
Comments (8)Latex, oil, or hybrid, hard-curing enamel paints are only hard once they've cured. If you just painted your cabinets hours, days, or even a few weeks ago, they absolutely will scratch off with a fingernail if that's what you set out to do. If the previous Impervo coat was gloss, scuffing the existing paint would have been well-advised, but even then your current dilemma is not necessarily poor adhesion. Uncured enamel will be damaged if you subject it to damage. Always make sure to read the directions for the products you're using. In the case of Advance, Benjamin Moore advises that painted surfaces should be out of use for at least 3-5 days, and that full hardness may not occur for 30 days. (The same directions also apply to most enamels.) If you're still having issues at that 30 day mark, then there's a cause for concern. Until then, quit digging at it with your fingernails. ;)...See MoreKitchen cabinets - paint chipping
Comments (49)UltraCraft - your company name is on this thread. You have been given an opportunity here to respond to a situation involving your product and one of your chosen dealers. This incident could show potential customers why they should buy your product instead of one from another of the multitude of cabinet companies in the marketplace. Why do you have a customer service team? Should it be called dealer services instead? Although your company didn't directly create this problem, it is still your name being dragged through the mud. You are indirectly responsible as the source of the product and may wish to consider your company's image as you reply to dissatisfied customers. It's not the installing dealer's name stamped on the inside of the cabinets, it is yours....See MoreCabinet stain wore off. Help! (with photos)
Comments (10)I would leave them alone. Just make sure they are clean. Since this is a rental, if what you try doesnt work out well, you have just made things worse, and that may anger your landlord. Let them decide, once you decide to move, since they probably know where they were purchased from, and the brand of cabinets, and the exact color. How did you get oil spots all over that you needed to rub that hard. I have never had oil on a cabinet. Food spills, yes, but, never oil. In any case, it may not even be your fault, it may be a defect in the cabinet finish itself. Best to leave for landlords to deal with....See MoreBrand new Custom Kitchen cabinets chipping PLEASE HELP!
Comments (8)All cabinets chip with normal wear and tear. Sharp 90 degree edges will always show that first. Sharp 90 degree edges should be avoided if at all possible. Edges should be slightly rounded over. Painted cabinets show normal chipping far worse than stained. If the project is not finished, touch ups have not yet been done. Those are normal wear spots for chipping to occur. Whether or not that is normal chipping depends on the processes and materials that were used. Site built and finished with house paint? Normal. Conversion varnish? Less normal, but not unheard of with those sharp edges. Learning how to touch these up is in your future as they will need that every so often. This is a teaching that your cabinet maker or installer should provide at the end of the project, along with how to adjust your doors and drawers to account for seasonal movement....See Morecpartist
