why my epis aren't so full looking...
Comments (13)I am unsure what I am saying. This is what I did early in the plants life. If you cut everything back , it will be another year before it blooms. It will be all new growth. If your growth is old , maybe it is tired. I don't know what kind of Epi you have . Different epis act differernt. The Oxipetalum is very robust. Others are not, so what works for an Oxipetalum might not work for another one. I have a disocactus ackermani that is incredibly slow about blooming. My oxy has been loosing vigor the last few years, and I am wondering if epis get OLD and if I should start a new plant off a cutting. Having 2 of these plants will drive me out of house and home. If you have 5 baskets with multiple plants in each, why don't you take one plant out of one Hanging planter and give it its own basket and this winter experiment by cutting that one plant back to see if the growth you get is worth it....See MoreSome of my dahlia's aren't doing so well, any ideas as to why?
Comments (4)The purple giant turned bright white on the tips, magenta on the middle, and deep purple in the center. It looks fantastic and is doing wonderfully. Two of them have perked up. Ive noticed a difference in the structure of the... um.. bush? and foliage. The ones that look wilted tend to be less full and bushy. Much more lengthy, Also I felt the leaves, and they are perfectly healthy, firm. Not wilted at all. But their leaves look as though they are in a state of constant wilt. Because of out heat I try and keep them in shade. Dahlias do much better here when shaded for most of the day. They definitely aren't full sun plants down here. I try to plant them where there is full morning light and dappled shaded light during the afternoon. Some of them get hit by the after noon sun for an hour or so unfortunately. During the day it averages around 87. I say this because one day its 80 and the next its 90. We rarely reach 3 digits. and normally dont go above 95. I live nearish to the coast so it helps keep things cooler. At night I would have to say we reach from 60 - 70....See MoreA Tale Of Two Beds - AKA, Why Aren't My Tomatoes Setting?
Comments (4)Big Beef is a known high producer and fairly early for a large Beefsteak. Varieties like Yellow Brandy are extremely late(90 DTM if I remember right). My Big Beefs were the first beefsteak to set, my Brandywine is just now starting to set about two weeks after my Big Beef. Give em some more time, they should come through for you. Although I have to admit, last year I got but only three tasty tomatoes off my Yellow Brandywine :) Don't waste your money on the blossom set spray...See MoreWhy aren't other agents showing my home?
Comments (18)Our agent told us since he was incurring the cost of advertising the property and doing most of the legwork, that's why his part of the commission is larger. I posted on a local realtor board and was told 2 percent is the average around here, and a lot of agents aren't showing homes that offer 1.5. I asked our agent to change it to 2. I don't even know how to be sure that he has, but then again I just looked at my listing on craigslist which says we have stainless steel appliances. We don't. It's also still advertising an open house for "this Sunday" (no date) when the open house was this past Sunday. I'm so sick of these errors. From misspellings, to inaccurate facts, to having no signs for the open house, showing up 10 minutes before it started (he said he'd be here 30 minutes early), to not posting the virtual tour on realtor.com until a month after going on the market, the commission issue, telling other agents we need 24 hours notice even after we more than clarified we don't, turning away a showing, etc. It's hard to wrap my head around all this when the guy's not even getting paid until he makes the sale. He's young. Maybe he only remembers the good times of real estate when these things didn't matter. Like I said, we can't act until the weekend/next week. Thanks for your words of wisdom and patience with my tale of woe in the meantime. Man, I screwed this one UP....See MoreDonna R zone 6a
