Comments (6)I don't understand the idea of entering closet from the bathroom. The humidity will ruin your clothes and shoes. While someone is in the bathroom (for any reason), the other person cannot access his/her clothes and get dressed. At least in my life it is so -- when someone is using a bathroom, it is off limit to the other person. Our builder's original floor plan was in similar way - and that was the first thing we told them to change. It also created more wall space in the bathroon - for all kinds of storage/hooks, decor, etc....See MoreMaster Bath- Advice/critique please
Comments (8)Here's our linen tower pics. We did one on either end of a 6.5' long vanity. They are about 4-6" shallower than the vanity with a fluted transition strip placed at an angle on either end of the vanity to connect them. We keep extra towels, washcloths, soap, TP, curling iron, hair dryer, toiletries, makeup, etc in there. It keeps everything more organized & easier to reach/find. We actually only use 3 of our 4 vanity drawers--hairbrushes in one, toothbrushes & toothpaste in another & my special stash of scented soaps in the 3rd. Th 4th is just empty. The cabinets hold the trashcan and cleaning supplies for the bath. I am so glad we put in the towers--much better than just the vanity cabs & drawers we have had in the past. Hope this helps!...See MorePlease critique master bath/closet layout
Comments (8)Closets and shower are reasonably sized. One caution on the pocket doors. Check with your builder to make sure that you will have clearance within the walls for the doors. We are using a lot of pockets in our new build. The builder caught some clearance conflicts that has required some changes. I think it was because of the placement of some of our truss support beams. The only other thing I see is a little problem that I am also experiencing with my master bath - place to hang wet towels! Re you going with hooks or a bar on the wall between the tub and the closet?...See MoreCritique, alternative master bath arrangements...
Comments (12)Cpartist, The guest bath maybe deceiving. The area where vanity sits is 44" wide, the total area from wall to wall where vanity and toilet sits is 8'4". Do you have advice for improving the master bath? I understand the master bath is huge, hence the reason for posting. I disagree on the toilet being right on top of the tub, that's a pretty common arrangement in the right hand bath. 20 from center of toilet to the edge of a 32" wide shown tub? Could you elaborate on a lot of wasted space in the master bedroom? It is 15'x15'. The hallway rear of the cooktop is a foyer. That's also where the double entry doors will be. Kitchen gets lots of natural light. The back great room wall has (2) 3'x8' full light doors, as well as (3) 8' windows in between them, and a large picture window in the vaulted gable. This is actually a modification on a pretty popular plan, and I have been in one similar, and it had tons of light. For clarification, the stairs are an open riser to a loft. The line behind the bar is actually just the above loft edge. There are no walls in that room with the island, and dining, and greatroom. Understand, and agree on the master bedroom door location, it's something we sacrificed, and why we inset the door way, and the stairs help to act as a barrier in a way (again have seen a similar home, and it's a plan you may have seen before). Understand on laundry and going through the kitchen, but not something I'm really worried about. Yes I do have a lot, and the back covered porch shown faces south. Corner porch off of the fireplace faces west, and tilted slightly north (15 degree tilt). South sun along back of the home. https://www.houseplans.com/plan/2720-square-feet-3-bedroom-2-5-bathroom-0-garage-farmhouse-39090...See Moremichoumonster
