My wife, who is out of town right now, doesn't like putting the toilet beyond the shower. Also, as Littlebug said, it is a little cramped (by the way, what does DH mean? Dear Husband?). So, taking these two criticisms into account, I decided on a 48" square or angled shower, moved to the NW corner, 38" space for the toilet, and a 72" vanity. The vanity could be two 36" cabinets, a 30-12-30 combo, or a three 24" cabinets. I think the 30-12-30 would be best, with the 12" one a 3-drawer unit. Remember, I'm planning to have shallow cabinets/shelves across the room, under the windows. This totals 13'2", one inch less than the total space. Attached is this revised design. Kudzu, I actually having the toilet behind the door in Mongo's design, but overall, Mongo's design loses too much space in the closet. I think I should go back to my architect, who came up with the original design, and ask him to think more carefully about it.

@palim. The Blue Star will be around $9500 with tax. That covers most of the shower rebuild. The doors would have been around $400 and $120 for the slides. I just have to sleep on it and redo tomorrow. @practigal. The wiring was expensive because they used copper wires. We had changes in the cost from one week to another according to copper futures. LOL. We also had to cut drywall and ceiling all the way from the front of the garage to the back of the house where the kitchen was at. We also had to replace all the lighting to LED per city's requirements. That was $150/recessed light. @Buehl. broom closet is probably a good idea. I expanded the broom closet on the short wall to a 12" mini pantry instead so I lost the broom closet.

Cpartist, The guest bath maybe deceiving. The area where vanity sits is 44" wide, the total area from wall to wall where vanity and toilet sits is 8'4". Do you have advice for improving the master bath? I understand the master bath is huge, hence the reason for posting. I disagree on the toilet being right on top of the tub, that's a pretty common arrangement in the right hand bath. 20 from center of toilet to the edge of a 32" wide shown tub? Could you elaborate on a lot of wasted space in the master bedroom? It is 15'x15'. The hallway rear of the cooktop is a foyer. That's also where the double entry doors will be. Kitchen gets lots of natural light. The back great room wall has (2) 3'x8' full light doors, as well as (3) 8' windows in between them, and a large picture window in the vaulted gable. This is actually a modification on a pretty popular plan, and I have been in one similar, and it had tons of light. For clarification, the stairs are an open riser to a loft. The line behind the bar is actually just the above loft edge. There are no walls in that room with the island, and dining, and greatroom. Understand, and agree on the master bedroom door location, it's something we sacrificed, and why we inset the door way, and the stairs help to act as a barrier in a way (again have seen a similar home, and it's a plan you may have seen before). Understand on laundry and going through the kitchen, but not something I'm really worried about. Yes I do have a lot, and the back covered porch shown faces south. Corner porch off of the fireplace faces west, and tilted slightly north (15 degree tilt). Random thoughts: - Wow, that's a lot of stuff in a small space. While it fits, I don't think you have enough space for comfort. - You have nine doors in your master suite ... plus two more immediately outside the suite. In contrast, I have eleven in my whole downstairs. You've divided things too much; those doors will take up all your wall space. Consider that in the bathroom you have a separate room for the sink ... a separate room for the toilet ... and a separate room for the bathing apparatus. Those things are going to look odd each in their own rooms. You're empty nesters, so I assume aging-in-place is a concern for you? All these doors will be problematic if you have arthritic hands or mobility issues. - The worst door is the one on the toilet closet; this closet looks particularly small, and you won't be able to close the door once you're in there -- even if it were larger, these things are awful for elderly people. Consider, too, that you need some storage near the toilet ... for TP now, perhaps for other items once you're elderly. What you're doing is regulating yourself to a mall toilet stall; consider, too, that if you need to add grab bars to both sides of the room, the usable space in the room will decrease further still. You're going to use this toilet multiple times a day ... make it accessible and comfortable. - You're talking about a Japanese tub ... aren't these usually round? Yet your bathing room is laid out for a rectangular tub. - I don't like that the sink, the most used item in the bathroom, is going to be in a windowless room. - I like your connection between the closet and the laundry ... but you have no space for "waiting loads", no space for storage of detergent and other laundry items, no space for drip-drying items. Also, your dryer would be cheaper /more fire safe if it were placed on an exterior wall so you could vent it directly. - I see that the closet faces the front of the house, so I assume you need those windows-in-closet for symmetry ... but do consider what type of window coverings you'll use to protect your clothing from sun damage. - Your master is a nice size. - The exterior door in the master is an excellent idea ... for fire safety, if nothing else ... but what's the little bumpty-bump into which it opens? This is going to be expensive to build, and then it'll be odd to exit into that little space. If you incorporate that space into the master, you could have an overstuffed chair /footrest, which could be a great place to sit and read (if your lighting is right), and you could still have the exterior door in that spot. Yes! This general concept simplifies your overly-complex plan. It'll make access to these areas more convenient and will eliminate all those doors, doors, doors. Maybe lose all those entry doors /place ONE BEDROOM DOOR between the foyer and the suite, the spot where you currently have a cased opening. Not sure how the little office will be used, but agree with the other poster on putting the laundry there instead. Yes! How about moving the laundry to the office ... and put a built-in desk in the spot that currently holds laundry.
