Need to replace a toilet seat quick!

I really need your help please. I am just completing a guest bathroom remodel and at the end our previous toilet just didn't match at all. I had an hour to run out and buy a Biscuit colored toilet so I bought a Koehler at HD (they only had one biscuit in stock to take home, any others would have had to be ordered and take a week) The toilet is fine but the toilet seat is TERRIBLE. It's a thin plastic, not comfortable at all...just very cheap!

It had been 12 years since I had to replace a toilet. They may have improved internally but certainly not the seats. I'm looking for something comfortable and substantial, not flimsy. I don't need anything that heats up, padded or removable for cleaning, just something solid and comfortable in a biscuit color. Has anyone experienced this with recent toilet purchases and know a good brand of toilet seats? I need one that is elongated, not sure if they're a standard size ? I'm hoping to be able to buy one at HD or Lowes or on Amazon.com because we have house guests arriving on Thursday. The toilet it needs to fit is called a Koehler Highline Classic (biscuit color elongated)

I love this site but I NEVER thought I'd have to be asking for info on purchasing a toilet seat or all things. Thank you.

I would think you need to go to the stores available to you and see if you can find a better quality seat. Take the old (new) one with to match for color and size. It's possible they stock only a Kohler that will fit, but maybe they have some other brands, or a better quality Kohler. I have kohler toilets and they came with a soft close seat that I am really happy with.

I'm also happy with the Kohler soft close seat I have. None of the toilets I looked at came with a seat. Maybe the ones that do include a seat have a lower quality one that the ones you buy separately. Amazon carries Kohler seats, maybe you can get a biscuit one there.

My son & DIL bought a house recently with pinky beige bathroom fixtures. My DIL painted her bath a muddy greige color with subtle green undertones (sometimes looks grayish, depends on the lighting). I'm surprised how great the fixtures look with with the wall color. She added chocolate brown towels & brown shower curtain, and they work well too. We were both leery of the color when the sample went up, thinking it might be muddy & blah, but for lack of alternative, she used it anyway. It's turned out to be a great neutral: calm, contemporary, and very clean looking. Greige with green undertone sure rejuvenated those old pinky beige fixtures. (The next time my DIL speaks about color, I'm listening -- this gal is GOOD!)

cplover - did you look to see if you could find the manual that goes with these toilets? You might be able to tell from that. Otherwise, there should be a contact number or email to check with the companies on these products. I can't imagine a company making a toilet that you had to remove to change the seat. Not that you do it often but from a general design perspective that would not be a good design.

thank you. You're right. The Koehler toilet from HD comes with the cheap-o seat (mine) whereas the exact same Koehler toilet from Lowes comes with the nice soft close seat (sells for $11. more than HD). Rather than hassle with returning it to HD, I ordered an upgraded Koehler wood seat from Amazon Prime which should arrive within 48 hours. Live and learn, wish I had gone to Lowes in the first place.

Let me know how you like the new one. I bought new toilet seats when we moved into this condo, and I hate them. Very cheap feeling.

Our old wood seat was Bemis and lasted 15 years. Didn't see Bemis at the store so we bought a wooden Kohler. Seat edge isn't rounded so paint will probably chip eventually, and hinges are cheap. Went looking for Bemis again and found out that Church is Bemis. I bought the soft-close Church at HD or Lowe's and am very happy with it. Mayfair is also Bemis and carried by Target. I don't know if their soft-close is the same quality as Church.

Wood. Also, the Kohler doesn't feel as roomy as the Church. We have round bowls.

I think ours is called a "Church" and I love it. It's got a slow, soft close, and I love the feature that it clips off and on to remove it easily for complete cleaning around the entire toilet top surface.
