Comments (96)Thanks for all your interest on Mrs Laui guys, but I'm sad to say she's a goner. I don't think I have any intention any time soon to acquire anymore of these "rarer" more finicky echeverias. I just don't have the time/capacity and environment to provide the sufficient care and attention these delicate plants need. I snapped some photos of the devastating final moments, perhaps this can become a learning reminder. Aztc - I've read that their natural habitat, they grow on very high altitude environment, ie side cliffs on hills/mountains of Oaxaca in Meixco City with general dry arid weather and low humidity. The plant mostly extract water from morning dew and or night condensation, very rarely from rainfall. I genuinely believe my sudden treatment to abruptly reduce watering and stale air, with constant intense light cause the demise of the plant. Marguerite - I've read online that Laui have varying species too. Mrs Lauii generally originate from Mexico; and Mr Laui is a different breed that is identified as "narrow" leaved. http://www.bcss.org.uk/foruma/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=156997&start=0 I guess we'll see when Mr Laui has more mature leaves grown down the line.....See MoreBernard's Garden of Echeverias and other Misfits
Comments (38)Shapriolh - Thank you for your interest. My plants come from all over the place. Some are given as gifts from friends as small leaf clippings, some are purchased from plant shows, farmer's market or local nursery. Most of them are from ebay, especially the rarer ones - Monet, Mexican Giant, Carly Argentea and my variegates.. Try visiting one of those C&S plant shows near you when you get a chance, they usually have a terrific source of nurseries bringing their best breeds for sale. Thanks Kara and Pagan -- loving your garden tour too! Thanks for all the ID Nomen -- will update the names accordingly.. I'll also take note of the shifting sun when it enters fall.. It's really interesting to see how opportunistic the Bryan Makin Adros are when given more light and water. Really thankful for those extra plants Nomen! How are your cuttings doing? Did they root? Kevin -- I can send you some Adros clippings in the next few weeks. How's your collection coming along? It's been a while since I chatted with you. Palmsnow -- Yes -- E--Echeveria, too lazy to write the full thing.. lol. And yep, Purpusorum is very slowly growing. Not as quick as the others. Glad you enjoy them as much as I do....See Morewhite/pale echeverias
