Comments (2)Oh no, I didn't mean to...I just know what our garage looks like....and I really wouldn't care, myself, if it was perfect or not! In fact, when they poured it, they did put some sort of shiny coating on it...and it's in pretty bad shape now. So eventually, I would like a nice garage floor again, and I'd like to do that too! But I'd give myself a little leeway there....for mistakes... Thanks for the link, I'm going there now!...See MoreWould you paint cabinets now knowing you will be painting again
Comments (4)I have a "temporary" microwave counter that I made for our kitchen, knowing that it would only be there for a few years. When we do the new kitchen, out it goes. But, even so, I did the best job I knew how to do with that counter, and it still looks good. And it's still in our kitchen, because some ten years later, we do still not have a new kitchen. So, I'm glad I made that counter when I did and put the amount of work into it that I did. Truthfully, itÂs the best looking part of the kitchen! The one problem area you might run into is matching the new painted cabinets to the old, because paint sometimes changes colors over the years. Kitchen grease will do that, but so will the sun and just oxidation. If I were going to paint now and add new painted cabinets later which I wanted to match the old, I would just go forward on the assumption that I would paint everything again when the new went in. That way everything would be guaranteed to match....See MorePainting Cement floors in Basement..
Comments (2)Basement floors can be painted. However, there are enemies of paint that may cause the film to fail, peel, chip, etc. The chief culprit is "moisture". A simple test to gauge moisture from underground is to tape a plastic sheet over a 3' x 3' section. Wait 24 hours. If there is moisture on the bottom of the sheet, you will have problems with paint adhering to the floor. If the floor checks out dry, an epoxy paint finish will provide the best durability and service life "if" the floor is going to bear heavy traffic. If light duty, then a floor enamel will do well. Cement floors can be tiled after preparation. It must be a flat surface. It must be dust free and primed with a flooring primer to enhance adhesion. Are you considering ceramic or vinyl floor tiles?
