Something ate all the leaves off my Duke cherry!!

It's not a deer (I'm quite familiar with them, lol), because they didn't touch the branches at all, not even one tip. They got all leaf, and the very few leaves remaining have what looks like grasshopper damage in appearance. The young tree is only about 3 feet tall. This happened overnight, literally!

Could it be something like how tomato hornworms get tomatoes that fast? That's what it reminds me of, but I didn't see the culprits. Is there any big caterpillar like that that attacks cherries?

It only got one of my trees. It's bizarre that way! I have a lot of birds, so if it was like a hornworm, it wouldn't be too weird to not see the culprit. He also had no foliage left to hide in!

Any advice for how to help my poor tree now, too, is also appreciated. I put a bit of shade netting on it since it's so bare in the blazing sun :(

Edit: I only grow one cherry like that, but my bigger sweet cherry in a shadier spot did not get hit by it, nor did my Carmine Jewel bush next to the sweet cherry.
