Not the best way to get rid of gophers...
Comments (5)Aw, man! And ONLY a thousand and how many dollars? I'm going to have to get off my expertise, and get my mail order mail order Sooper Doover Mole Remover kit up on the web. O' course, the other kit didn't exactly say 'hey, we're running out of kits, here', in fact, maybe they only sold one kit: to those guys. Oh well....See MoreThripes Do you just live with them or try to get rid of them?
Comments (23)If the beneficial insects that feed on thrips and aphids are attracted to certain plants, it makes sense (to me, anyway) to plant those beneficial- insect attractors as some of the companion plants to roses. I tried doing this in Alabama, and it either worked pretty well or I didn't have much of a thrips problem anyway. I don't ever use pesticides in the garden either, as I am aware that there is an entire universe going on at the insect level that I don't see or much understand. I also do believe what Hamp and buford say, that there are some roses that are thrip magnets. It would be fun to make a list of those sometime. So, here are a couple of links that list plants that attract hoverflies, tachnid wasps, ladybugs, lacewings, etc. in case anyone is interested. http://www.dianeseeds.com/flowers/beneficial-insects.html Here is a link that might be useful: plants that attract beneficial insects...See MoreOrganic/non toxic way to get rid of scales on kafir tree
Comments (5)I use a product that contains d-limonene to spray all of my trees. It consists of pure citrus oil and breaks down the exoskeleton of scale, mealybugs, etc. A hard stream of water can be used to knock off the dead bugs. There are several brand names that sell this product, but I usually buy Safer. It can be found in the organic pest control section at Lowes. Good luck. Comments (219)I have lots and lots of bindweed all in my pachysandra and have come up with a solution to killing it without killing the pachysandra. I do use round up on the foam spray setting. First I gather up as many strands as I can in one clump andI put in into a slit in paper plate that I have cut one slit to the middle. It opens easily to put the bindweed on the plate . Then I spray it on the plate carefully using the foam setting. When dry I remove the plate and leave the weed for several weeks so it can get dead to the root. I will also try this on creeping Charlie. I have also used canes for the bindweed to crawl up and also tried putting a clump in a Baggie and the spray inside bag with roundup. That works but the paper plate is so much easier.Hope this helps someone else. I feel like I am going to get control after several years and hundreds or thousands of these vines!! lenette...See Moreewwmayo
