Go to the websites involved and your account settings and preferences you can check to stop all the emails from them or select what you want. I always have to do that to stop the emails.

I'm reluctant to click anything on this kind of email. Something labeled "unsubscribe" could take me to something else entirely. I've been putting them on my Blocked Senders list.

Raven, by "websites involved" do you mean Sierra and Choxi? I wouldn't want to go to the spammy websites.

If you've just made a purchase from the same internet address, your fear is unfounded. If it's from different ones, different story.

To pursue your suspicion, you could always call the companies whose websites you bought from. Post back here which ones admit to sharing email addresses. Most sellers DON'T do that and keep buyer info confidential. Any one that doesn't deserves to have that fact broadcast so that people can avoid buying from them if they admit to such disclosures.

Yes I do mean the website you actually did business with. I have only been getting emails from those places not any other spam but I do go set preferences.

A simiiar thing happens with Sears. Last December, I ordered watch though Sears. Since then, I have been getting 1 to 2 ads a week from Sears. At least, they did not spread my email address around and kept it within their business Also, their ads include (in fine and hardly readable font) an option to unsubscribe.

Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Winners, HomeSense, and T.K. Maxx). They may use this information to offer products and services'

I do buy from Sierra Trading occasionally. I get a lot of specials offered from them, deeper discounts, closeouts, free shipping....

I've never received unsolicited mail from any of the other companies they mention sharing with.

I've assumed in the last 5-6 years that all companies from which I order sell my name and address. I just use the unsubscribe button for any unwanted emails, and that takes care of it.

When I say "spam" and "junk email" I wasn't talking about anything sent directly by Sierra or Choxi, nor even TJ Maxx. I'm speaking of "Looking for cash? We've got it," "Herpes Breakthrough," "Miracle Anti-Aging Discovery," "See pics of singles in your area," "Hello this is Alice," "It's me, Alice," "Alice from High School," etc. Ugh.

UPDATE: It happened again. I ordered something from Choxi and received a spam deluge. I think I learned my lesson this time.

Same here, it's ridiculus! I cannot take the time to open 75-100 emails EVERY day to click "unsubscribe"...I have no idea how to stop them from coming any other way so I just delete them...ugh

They seem to peter out eventually, but it takes time. I agree: ugh.

Have you gone to the choxi website and set preferences in your account settings? I order from both of those sites and get absolutely nothing but I always immediately after setting up an account go to the account settings and go through everything there and opt out. Every website has options and preferences in your account area and they are always default set up with all the emails options checked, unchecked them. It really does work.

I checked Choxi after reading your post, Raven, thanks. The only emails listed under Preferences were emails from Choxi itself.

I think I blamed Sierra Trading Post in error. I've ordered from them a number of times since my original post in June, and didn't receive any spam as a result.

How about setting up a screener address, then check it after you've ordered something, and occasionally at other times. I set up "junk mail systems" ... but check it so infrequently that I think that it may have expired.

When you place an order, there is usually a very small box that is already checked; it will say something like "I'd like to receive emails from you." Sometimes I forget to look for it and uncheck the box as it can be in an obscure spot, and then immediately start getting a bunch of emails from that company.
