I encourage my students to guess on an exam when they can eliminate at least half the answers. But I'm not going for a high mark here! Hopefully others will get a better score! And by the way - cute and creative format.

as bkay notes .. too many in one post .. i have the shakes from too much coffee this morn.. and i cant go up and down ... my eyes will fall out of my head ... i am already sweating ....

otherwise .. the format was brilliant ...

the second is undulata ... the first is not blue mouse ears .. nor blue jay ... both are much smaller ...

and i lost focus after that ... lol

Barb, thanks for the IDs. I am sure you know how new I am to Hosta - I totally have no clue for some of them and I have to make up names. Wish I am more knowledgeable so that the choices for the question a little bit more interesting. I will check those ID you provided out.

Somehow, I can not edit the first post of this thread. But I edited the second and third posts.

I want some hostas that bloom money like yours.

So, Rockdale, where did you get these hosta? By that I mean, did you buy them from a specialty hosta nursery or did you pick them up at a local all purpose nursery , a big box store or did your Aunt Lucy share hers from her sterling years old collection or you inherit them with your new house?

How old are they (if you didn't inherit them with the house)?

Some suggestions are for uncommon plants. Some suggest common ones. Some hosta were common years ago, but not any longer.

An example is one of the yellows; the suggestions were Pineapple Upsidedown Cake, Kabitan and Green Eyes. Pineapple Upsidedown Cake is fairly common now. Kabitan and Green Eyes probably are not that common in the last couple of years. Ken's been doing hosta since the Jesus was a baby, so if they are old, that would help us come up with a correct answer.

Those answers might help narrow the suggestions.

I had these info written in my 2nd post but when I remove the pics they all gone.

I got most of the hosta from friends/neighbors, they are non-collector (meaning: they are not ' hosta crazy' like you guys:), so most of them got from bbs. A couple might from nurseries (like that pineapple thing, I never seen it at bbs). I also bought a couple from bbs last year.Those I got from friends I don't know how old they are. I got them either last year or this year. It never occurred to me that I needed to ask the name and the age. And now when I asked most of them have no idea what is the name of the hosta they gave to me. Pretty new to garden, and ALREADY proud of myself of moving focus from flowering plants to foliage :) as I am going to buy more, knowing what I already have becomes somehow more important. :)

And some of those choices I listed has nothing to do with the plants, I have to make some names. But I think the less rare one will be more likely.

I checked the hosta lists site and omg I think this might be an impossible mission, so I guess I will just enjoy them meanwhile.

Are their flowers any help for id? I have some that flower soon. Was planning to take pics then and post.
