Toilet with sufficient water in bowl?

Let's see if i can put this delicately. We've been using a cheap generic 1.28 GPF toilet for a couple years, and it works fine, except you have to brush the bowl after use. There's not much water in the bowl, so the 'splash zone' is rather small. I just chalked it up to the brave new world of low water use toilets. We recently bought a Kohler Memoirs toilet for our fancy little powder room, and despite being a 1.28 GPF, it has a generous water area in the bowl. The result is that it doesn't need brushing after use. We much prefer this, but would rather not pony up $300+ for another toilet. Are there other brands that are designed this way, but cost a bit less? What about less costly Kohler toilets? It's hard to tell looking at them in the store.
