potato hilling dilemma: hill in sog or hill late?

My basic question is, is it better to hill in soggy soil or hill late? (or, in this case, even later than it already is)

It's been raining every day for 2 weeks, and my potatoes are about 3 to 12 inches high, average 7 - 8 inches. Been wanting to hill them, but didn't want to work the soil when it's wet.

Now I need to fit in a visit to an elderly family member for about 5 or 6 days. So . . . do I wait until Friday and hope that the 30% chance of showers for that ONE day will give me some dry-ish conditions, hill and then go for the visit? Or do I leave for the visit today, and figure that the 30% chance of rain with "mostly sunny" for Monday and Tuesday next week should give things a little drying out?

Do I try to hill the tallest ones a little (just w/ hoe, no tilling) before I leave? Or just leave that soggy soil alone? (Rained last evening and a lot of the night. 60 -70% chance of rain today, tomorrow, and over the weekend)

Thanks, in advance, for advice!
