White doors and baseboards with wood windows and window trim?
Comments (7)Well, we have something like you describe, though our window trim is painted to match the baseboard. The doors on the first floor are stained wood, while the doors on the 2nd floor are painted. The windows and stained doors are Douglas fir and the wood on the windows was so lovely that we couldn't bear to paint it. Of course, then we had to paint the baseboards and trim as we did not want to mix woods here and Doug fir for all the trim would have been prohibitively expensive. Floors are red oak. Comments (2)I searched the web for pictures of what you are describing too and didn't find any. However, I think what you are planning to do will work, especially because you have stained trim elsewhere in the room. Suggestion- pick up some beadboard paneling, and cut it to size. Prop it u pon top of your baseboard and then snap a photo. Attach the photo to this thread so that folks can get a visualization of your idea....See MoreTrim: stained vs painted combination
Comments (22)I think it looks great! Someday I want my husband to coffer our living room ceiling, and we'll probably have the opposite scheme... Painted crown & beams even though the rest of the woodwork in there is stained Craftsman style trimwork. We have similar furniture to yours as well as a brick & wood fireplace surround, so I'm hoping some glossy white paint up there on the ceiling will lighten things up a bit and tie into the shiny white backsplash in our kitchen that's directly across from the living room. I really like the look of combining stained and painted trim in thoughtful and visually pleasing ways. Look forward to seeing it when it's all done! It's a beautiful, cozy room full of character. I love your rug and furniture too....See MoreStained wood trim mixed with some white wood trim: what should we do?
Comments (20)in the main room you have partial white windows. I'd paint them all white so that it matches. even the door casing. you can leave the wood doors. as for the baseboards, up to you. your wood ones don't look too bad. It's just a whole lot of wood, especially if you're bringing in arts/crafts type of oak furniture. the floor is oak but the baseboards and trim look like something else. I'd prob do that living room/kitchen trim/baseboards in Alabaster. wait for the other rooms until you get everything in and see how it looks you have to admit, it looks much fresher....See Morejemgirlca
