Speed Queen top load washer - which model?
Comments (13)A while back I saw a post about Speed Queen needing to cut the amount of water used in fills to meet government regs. I also read that there is a small lever on the back inside of the control panel that adjusts the fill volume. If I got a Speed Queen (not too soon I hope) I would want to know how to do that. Does anyone recall the instructions? This time I will print them out and save for future reference. I'm with the poster that told of how ridiculous it is for the govt. to limit water for dishwasher and washing machines while allowing unlimited water for lawns and gardens. No home in my neighborhood uses more wash water than irrigation water....See MoreSpeed Queen? Whirlpool? which TLwasher to buy?
Comments (36)I have never bought from this dealer until this set of SQ's...when I bought this washer its the first time I had ever been in that store. I have already contacted Speed Queen 4 times, long and lenghtly conversations..my last call they flat out told me that that once the machine goes to the store and I buy it all issues are the dealers responsability. He wasn't rude about it in fact he said it sounds like I've a lemon on my hands and in his opinion a new replacement should be given to me BUT I have to go thru the proper channels to accomplish that. I have to speak to my dealer and he has to speak to the repair man who has to tell him what parts have been replaced yet a problem still exists and he doesn't know what the problem is....I have spoken to the dealer....this is where my problem is..the repairman says he can fix my machine and the dealer already knowing the parts replaced and the new ones ordered chooses to believe the repairman knows what he's doing...in otherwards the dealer bought the machine from SQ..I bought it from the dealer...SQ won't help me but they will help the dealer..the dealer won't ask SQ for help and SQ won't help me because I didn't buy it from them...sounds to me like SQ found a nice loop hole...a way to get out of helping us consumers. I am writing letters..and I am calling SQ back tomorrow...I'm also going into the dealers tomorrow. I am able to use the washer..kind of. It spins out if it feels like it. It often goes into spin and just at the point where it should pick up speed it slows down almost to a stop. I wait awhile turn it back to spin and try again..yes I've got some done but its piling up majorly....See MoreWhich Speed Queen washer to buy?
Comments (7)I have the adora model which is not sold anymore. It is the same as the cheaper models that are not high efficient models. I bought it because it has a small footprint. It is only 26" deep which fits in my laundry space. I have only 28" depth in my space. Do you know how much it costs to replace the bearing on a washing machine?...See MoreSpeed Queen TL: Analog or Digital? Which Needs Less Maintenance?
Comments (10)I have a 7 yr old Speed Queen TL. Bottom of the line AWN 412. Has worked flawlessly so far. Except for a selector knob that I broke by twisting too hard w/in the first month of owning it. A couple of times a year, I kinda' wish the washer had a prewash cycle. Otherwise, I use two of the three cycles...regular and delicate. Never use the permanent press cycle. Bells and whistles = More Stuff To Go Wrong. IMO. Got a new dishwasher early this summer. All electronics. Every time it clouds up and looks like it might rain (lots of thunderstorms), I go to the basement and unplug the dishwasher because I'm afraid that a lightning strike/ power surge is going to fry the electronics. I don't know for sure but it seems like the electronic controls would be cheaper for Speed Queen to produce than mechanical controls. If that is the case, with the electronic machine costing more, you're actually paying up front for that extra two years of warranty. If you're worried about the longevity of the mechanical controls, just purchase a back-up timer and put it on the shelf. That should pretty much guarantee that you'll never need it! :-)...See Moreanoop
