What white paint for a vanity in a carrara bathroom?
Comments (5)I think you need to look at a sample of your tile, and some paint chips, in your bathroom's lighting. I have Carrara in my kitchen and I can tell you that you really need to choose the white based on your particular slab or tile lot... you'll probably want a cool white, not a creamy one, if it's a typical carrara with grey veining and a cool cast. I also wanted to comment on your plans. Have you finalized any of those things you have "?" on? It looks like it's going to be gorgeous... but I had these thoughts: 1) Don't have the shower door swing that way if the bathroom door is hinged on the shower side. If those doors happen to be open at the same time and collide, you'll shatter the shower door (assuming it's frameless glass.) 2) Can you do a pocket door for the entry? My master bath door is in the middle of the wall, like yours. It is hinged on the right, and opens almost 180 degrees, like yours would if you hung it that way. It's "OK" but I really wish I'd done a pocket door instead....See MoreWhat paint color for master bedroom and bathroom with carrara marble?
Comments (13)Warning - this is an old post! @juddgirl2 - i was wondering if you would post post photos of your bathroom/bedroom. I’m trying to finalize things fir my master bathroom/master bathroom renovation and would love to see what colors you chose. I’m planning on using Mapei Warm Gray for my carrara marble - your Custom Platinum looks nice though! Hmmm … . What grout color did you use for your slate floors? My slate tile has been installed - will be grouted soon. I am pretty sure that I know which color grout I’m using - just would love to see whatever you did just in case I like it better! 😆 Also, I’m thinking about purchasing some porcelain blue shams/throw from Pottery Barn to use as an accent color in my bedroom. Quiet Moments is one of my top choices for paint - did you wind up selecting it or Chelsea Gray? Wow - it looks like I’m stalking you!...See MorePlan too ambitious?? Comments (49)I have an update and would love to get some feedback before I order the final accessories. (Demo begins one week from today!) I got a quote for replacing the vanity with white cabinetry complete with a sitting area, plus hardwiring of sconces. The costs all added up to too much for me, so I'm sticking with my vanity and overhead lighting location. I feel great about my choices for tile, bath tub, paint, and fixtures. My worry is that all the little accessory details won't quite work together, diminishing the beauty of the bathroom as a whole. I need to buy the accessories soon; here's what I have in mind. With overhead lighting instead of sconces, I prefer one large mirror. The mirror is by Pottery Barn, a wooden frame with gold gilt, 72" x 36". Perfect size for the space, very very very hard to find. This is technically a floor-length mirror, so I hope it can be mounted horizontally! PB customer service was useless when asked. The lights are also PB, polished nickel. For practical reasons, I ruled out any overhead lights that take type B bulbs (too dim) and have fabric shades (too hard to clean). As a big plus, these are on sale for $170 each. Do they go with the mirror and the rest of the room? Chandelier is PB, 18" diameter, antique brass, UL-listed. This will be over the tub on a dimmer. It was hard to find a chandy that's not too big, ornate, and/or expensive. Knobs and pulls are glass and polished nickel from Restoration Hardware. Towel ring, TP roll, and hook are Ballard Design in polished nickel. Fabric for the roman shade is gray on cream linen. Shower bench is Signature Hardware in teak. I hope this will help tie in the wood of the vanity with the other side of the room. Towel warmer is polished stainless steel (no nickel option) from Signature Hardware. If anything doesn't quite mesh or looks wrong, I would love to hear, as well as any suggestions for alternatives!...See MoreCarrara Marble: Polished Floors with Honed Walls?
Comments (4)You are correct as there is no difference in slipperiness between honed and polish marble as it is the numerous grout lines which provide traction. I have polished marble dog bone tile in one bathroom and honed marble basket weave in another tile. I chose honed marble in my master bath because I wanted a slightly softer look and also since the master would be getting more use, any etching is less obvious in honed marble. As to whether the specific tiles look good together, I think you need to provide more information....See MoreBunny
