you are welcome.. the trick is in the latin name ... Pinus clausa .. is a species of pine.. all pine species have huge potential .... easy to google just that part ... to see link ... as you can see.. the babes in the pic here.. has a habit that is substantially dwarf.. comparing such .... and that is why we get excited about them ... frankly .. psst.. dont tell the rest.. i cant tell one pine from another.. but i can surely see the difference ... if it had been a 'named cultivar' .... such as P. clausa 'ritmatt' .. the quote part of the name.. would be your first clue.. its somehow different that the species ... and selected for its uniqueness ... ken Here is a link that might be useful: link

I lived in Naples and now an area just outside Ft Myers called Buckingham. We moved to 5 acres and I was so excited to make a huge garden. Everything is raised beds, with tons of compost. First year went great. Cabbages, broccoli grows awesome. Tomatoes began to wither. This year, my okra and cantaloupe didn't make it past about one foot. NEMATODES!!! I've let the beds rest for the summer. Added tons or organic matter on top. Got a 50lb bag of crab shell dust to mix in. Going to try nematode resistant tomatoes now. Hope I can get something back. I've struggled with squash, cucumbers, cantelope and watermelon. Either nematodes or cucumber worm. I was so excited my first year to have such a bounty of vegetables. In my third year now. If I can't get it right, I will try to grow the more susceptible veggies in containers with store bought dirt. It makes me mad to not be able to do better. Maybe you'll have better luck there because of the oyster shell base on the island. They say nematodes are the worst in sandy soil. Good luck!

Di, the gator became a silicone brush holder. (No, we weren't drinkin'.) Yes, silly we are! I'll be posting pictures when I get home, as the cable for my camera is there. You'll just to wait. Yes, I'm ashamed of myself, but as prepared as I was to cook, I wasn't prepared when it came to picture-taking. I forgot my Thermapen too, and there's a pork roast in the oven. So...Who wants to meet us for Stooping in Sanibel for an official CF Get-Together next year? It's a perfect time of year to be here, before all the snowbirds arrive. If you're interested, Cathy's ready to make some serious plans for all of us to come back!

One of our favorite places...We go to Ft. Myers every winter and always, always visit Sanibel....And, Flamingo, oh Pine Island...There is a little place way at the end of the island that serves the best grouper...When we 1st "found" the place it didn't even have screens on the windows but they have fixed it up and there are times, you can't get a seat. Not sure of the name, but next stop would be in the bay....Wonderful food......
