"Wish you were here!"

I wish I were too. Take a sieve the beach and learn to catch coquina clams. A french fry basket is a good tool for this. When you have a lot of coquinas make Coquina Chowder. Save the little shells for craft projects.

I missed something. Is that Sanibel Island?
Close to Ft. Myers.

One of our favorite places...We go to Ft. Myers every winter and always, always visit Sanibel....And, Flamingo, oh Pine Island...There is a little place way at the end of the island that serves the best grouper...When we 1st "found" the place it didn't even have screens on the windows but they have fixed it up and there are times, you can't get a seat. Not sure of the name, but next stop would be in the bay....Wonderful food......

I've done this for my grandbabies every year for 4 or 5 years. Maybe this will be the 5th year. They love it! It took Santa a couple of years to learn to say "Thatcher" tho. I wrote and asked the elves if they could ad his name to the list. The next year Santa was able to call him by name :)

Greetings from and old friend named Hijole ;-p

Hello everyone here. Special hello to my old friend hijole = Greg. Just saw this. I do FaceBook but only because people who I used to work with posted pictures there about our old mill and friends I used to work with. I post pictures of our breakfast meetings every month with the retirees that I set up since retirement. I like this forum best because it's not that personal and revealing as FB. I have sans promised out but had a bad winter season and their just now starting to look good enough to send out. I have a lot of agaves also. I have extra; Agave lophantha 'Splendida' Agave lophantha 'Quadricolor' Agave parryi var. patonii (I think) Agave Americana Variegata I also plan on getting rid of most of my Asclepiads but they are so bad looking this year due to to much rain and me having so much to do this year. I have lost interest in all plants this year and got too much on my mind and agenda . Also that variegated paddle cactus seen in left side of photo.

Greetings from Puerto Rico ... Question about bees
Q

I was able to brighten your picture in a photo editor and see the striping; nothing ruled out a honeybee. You have an interesting speculation about the bees and earthquakes, but the only thing commonly posted on the Internet is ant's reactions to quakes, but I would guess ants would react to any ground movements. After reading the article you linked to above, it would seem the bees are having a reaction to hive damage and bee tenders disrupted feedings. Volcanoes would likely have a similar effect. Individual bees would then scout around for a better location.

From Mustangs:

Jimster, thanks for the tips. There are plenty of crabs, we'll have to look a little harder for the coquinas. Maybe tomorrow if it's not too hot.

Lou, Yup, that Sanibel. Your sister said to tell you hello!

We just finished first dinner - Hearts of Palm Salad, Bordelaise Potatoes, popcorn, and cupcakes. How's that for a disjointed menu?

More later.

...What do you bring with you on vacation? You may not believe it, but we've used almost everything!

So...Which of these belong to Cathy, and which to Kathy? Extra Points for any correct answers!

Remember, You Wanted Pictures!

On Sanibel, shellers aren't allowed to collect live shells. Big, big no, no.

Oh I'm jealous. I know you're having a great time and I wish I were there, too!

How do you tell if a shell is dead or alive? They all look dead to me. I guess if somebody is living in it?

Beachlily, we have rescued a number of shells and even an octopus. We came across many occupied sea urchins but only brought back the vacated ones.

I know you are having a fabulous time and I'm really impressed by the kitchen equipment/supplies you have. I'm guessing that the compartmented spice box belongs to Cathy because she is so good about labeling things. It looks like a large weekly pillbox - I think that's a fabulous solution for bringing spices/herbs.

Wish I was there, but I'm loving your reports and photos. Now where are the pictures of you?

Hi, CdL here! I'll get a picture of David (my DH) who is making ''second breakfast'' for us, after our morning walk on the beach. The first one was home-made cinnamon rolls. I'm sorry I didn't get a picture of those, but Weed, if you're reading this, the GOO factor was very strong! Goo is Grood.

Lee...Good Guess. The spice container was mine. Surprise!

I have no idea, I'd have taken two, maybe three of those things, LOL. Heck, I can't even figure out what I'd do with about half of them.

I'd bet both of them brought aluminum foil, it's one of the few things I'd have brought along!

Oh, and all hot sauces belong to Cathy (Mustangs). I think...

We are seriously talking about Stooping in Sanibel next October or November. This is fabulously beautiful with lots to do.

No idea who owns what... but please tell me what that gator (iguana) looking thing in the back is holding between it's jaws! You all are nuts! Have fun!

Di, the gator became a silicone brush holder. (No, we weren't drinkin'.) Yes, silly we are!

I'll be posting pictures when I get home, as the cable for my camera is there. You'll just to wait. Yes, I'm ashamed of myself, but as prepared as I was to cook, I wasn't prepared when it came to picture-taking. I forgot my Thermapen too, and there's a pork roast in the oven.

So...Who wants to meet us for Stooping in Sanibel for an official CF Get-Together next year? It's a perfect time of year to be here, before all the snowbirds arrive. If you're interested, Cathy's ready to make some serious plans for all of us to come back!

Looks like you two(and DH's) are having a great time! The pic of the shells reminds of the gathering with Janet. I'm thinking that could have been the first time Mustangs and Riverrat slept together too...FYI they did the same at the PFPP a couple of years ago...LOL!

I seem to recall a famous joint with a train that ran around the ceiling and a yummy cake????

David, WOW-all you said is correct. What a great memory for details you have.

I have never seen the island as beautiful as it has been this week. Their condo of choice was perfect in many ways including close to the water and a beautiful view from the living room. We visited to the extent that we didn't get dinner cooked until 10:30!

Kathy and David were exceptional hosts to us.
