Gigantic "fire stick/sticks on fire" plant...help
Comments (11)You defiantly want to isolate it away from the children and keep them at a safe distance regardless of understanding , use a lot of self protection to include: long sleeves, long rubber gloves, face mask, goggles and what ever else you can think of. (This one has a reputation messing people up real fast for a painfully long time. Generally they have been known to spray a fine sap if treated suddenly including the simple moving of the pot at the wrong time of day is something to be aware of. Misting the planned cut areas prior and as you cut will help slow down the sap flow.Continue to mist the sap flow to a stop helping to keep it safer and less exposure of toxic sap for you to do the deed. Oddly enough it wont stop the cat from spraying chances are better it wont. Not able to confirm by a more informative link but inner sap (and it's coloring) while moving may attract acute visioned animals such as a nocturnal cat. ' fire sticks' is one of the highest levels in toxicity at level three toxic meaning it has several ways to defend it's self...See MoreMy Succulent is too tall. What should I do?
Comments (8)A "few hours a day" is not "plenty of sun" by the standards of many cacti/succulents. People frequently make the mistaken assumption that because the light seems bright to their eyes that it must be bright by plant standards. As others have noted, your plants growth is saying otherwise. Just remember to harden it off gradually to much stronger --preferably outdoors-- lighting ....not unlike how a fair-skinned person needs to gradually expose themselves to strong sunlight after long cold winter if they wish to avoid serious sunburn....See MoreVery tall, suddenly leaning cactus
Comments (2)Because it was kept in a pot it never developed the proper support roots. Cut it off (actually, you could likely make 10 or more plants out of that column, each piece 6" or so, if you wanted to. They can be longer, too.). Set the cuttings aside, then after a few days insert the cut end slightly into soil. Don't water the soil, but every few days spritz the cuttings with water. You'll be getting new growth in less than six weeks, I would think....See MoreWhat's on my succulent and why does he lean?
Comments (1)Your plant looks like a sedum. In nature, they serve as groundcover and it is only natural for it to eventually lean. The 'rash' is natural corking, where there has been stress upon the stem. It's the plant's reaction to the leaning and it is strengthening its own stem to deal with it. Perfectly normal and healthy....See Morebreathnez
