Need help with Troybilt Horse PTO 4 Speed - Tines won't till

While I was tilling with my Troybilt horse, the tines stopped tilling. The tractor still works fine in all gears. In troubleshooting, I noticed that the P.T.O. lever used to engage/disengage the tines attachment moved without resistance. I detached the tiller attachment from the main transmission and I didn't see anything obviously broken.
When I turned the dog clutch on the tiller attachment by hand, the tines turned so I assume that the gears are not stripped. On the power transmission side, the dog clutch turns when the tractor is shifted in forward gear, so I assumed that that part is fine. What I am trying to understand is how the PTO clutch is engaged. The PTO clutch level moves fine without any sloppiness, but it's not clear to me what the lever pushes/moves to engage and disengage the tines drive shaft. There doesn't appear to be any broken or bent parts and no adjustments possible.
Can anyone tell me how this works and what may be causing the tines to not turn? Which of the 2 clutch dogs move to engage the tines (power unit side or tines attachment side)?

I just checked the manual. I guess I should get my own act together because I haven't done most of the suggested lubes. I have certainly greased the belt Block adjuster and the two heavy vertical rods that the whole engine assembly slides up and down on for belt tension. I don't see any specific grease indicated. You may need to remove the rods if they are really messed up. Make sure you mark/determine the proper height. But then one is supposed to oil every moving bar connection and shaft. If you suspect that transmission oil has leaked out, you will need to fill it with either 90 or 140wt transmission oil via the hole under the T handle.

Old thread. I re-engined my 70's vintage Horse tiller. Did the belts like all the videos and what a hassle working by myself. Got a different engine and did the belts differently. Since everything had been cleaned and greased, parts slid together. Thought I would pass along this hint. After bolting the mounting casting to the engine, I took the engine pulley, placed it on top the transmission pulley with both belts loosely installed. Then took the engine and casting, lined up the engine shaft to the pulley (I set keyway up, but it doesn't matter, just so they are the same), slid the shaft into the pulley about half way, popped the belts under the guide pins, and inserted shaft the rest of the way. Installed both posts. Then installed crankshaft screw and washer. Maybe 15 minutes at most. Two people would make getting the belts under the guide pins easier.

Changing Low and High speed always start form neural in low and high speed. First lower center lever to engage belt that move all income transmission gears (rotate). Then move low high lever to speed desired by transmission gears already turn an easy shift can be performed. If lever still hard to move go to pivot on low high speed lever with 3/4 open wrench move nut counter clock wise half turn if this don't loosen level. Take all way off remove lever clean all parts rust is about freeze up pivot point. This pivot point is friction to hold lever in gear there no other detentes in transmission. You should be able to shift with little finger and friction tighten right hold in gear. Don't grease pivot and watch assy. and dis assy closely so parts be right place so friction work. Center level that lifts engine lube with PB Blaster lube pins engine slides up and down on PB Blaster other solvent work as well. It take this about 3 times year make shifting easy for me.

The shifting pin came out the rear of the transmission just in front of the tines. I put it back in and it will not slide all the way in, so I can't assemble the rear plug. From the parts schematic, it should fit into a shifting fork. Any suggestions on how to align the fork to accept the pin? There is a threaded hole on one side of the pin, I tried it both ways and it still wouldn't seat far enough in. Any suggestions?
