Here are a couple more pics. These are growing in an area I mulched last fall. They are near my water faucet, which always leaks a little bit, and keeps the soil moist. The caps are not shiny when they are dry, but any water turns them shiny and slimy. The piece of wood this one is on is about 3 inches wide. They are growing near a mature pink mimosa tree, but this is the first year I have seen these. I think they are probably coming from the mulch. The large one in the first photo is about as big as they get.

I am no mycologist, but I believe that is a shaggy-parasol?? Likes grass clippings and fir trees, they have a varying flavor from nutty and good , too not so tasty. latin names: Chlorophyllum rachodes Lepiota rachodes source of info is "Mycelium Running" by Paul Stamets

Pictures would be helpful. I am sure there are people on the forum more expert than myself, but it sounds like some kind of bolete. Generally speaking the ones that bruise blue are not edible. But maybe you knew all of this already. Liz

The one with the veil around the stem and what looks like oatmeal on top might be some kind of Amanita; the rest don't have enough detail to tell. For me, anyway. Identifying mushrooms is a whole hobby unto itself and really isn't easy except for a few very distinctive ones.
