One time offer!! Cuttings for Newbies who post regularly only!
Comments (112)Everyone, you're welcome!! Glad you like the selection! Happy you are all happy with your cuttings. Good luck with all of them this winter. Many had a good start to rooting. Aboout the break-in- Our alarm was not on in our office! Duh!! Mostly the robbery just made everyone paranoid. My husband is still locking all our doors at home- a first for us, living out in the country with six noisy dogs to scare off strangers. Not too much lost but always brings a feeling of violation. This is a first for us in 12 years there and we are not in a good neighborhood, so we have been fortunate. BTW, the alarm is always on now when we leave! We have not caught the bums but that is probably what they are, bums, excuse me, not being PC here, homeless people, in the area. Thanks for all your support and concern. Well, I just dug a bunch of my brugs, with the help of my grandson, Nathan. I'm leaving Adeline to bloom, since I only had two so far, and she had 12 buds on her- getting some color today. I dug up Lucero- he is scalped!! I will post a photo later. Back to work! Brenda...See MoreI know I post alot but I have one last question
Comments (4)I was once upon a time a botany hopeful like you when I was 18. My father said be smart and get something sensible like an accounting degree but I had this romantic image in my head that I would be traveling the world like 'MacGyver.' The reality of it was the building where the botany department was housed was a dirty, 100 plus year building that was shared with the chemistry department which was badly in need of a new roof, it leaked every time it rained. Now, that kind of tells you the some funding (or lack of) it had. Now the business department on the other hand was housed in a brand new building all tricked out with the best of everything from grateful alumni with deep pockets. And this was at one of the big ten schools. It was not a romantic major, I was told that with a botany degree in hand I would probably spend my days bent over a microscope in a lab somewhere if I was lucky enough to get a job in the first place. So I ended up changing majors junior year and finishing with a different degree. Later on I took a 2 year horticulture degree from a junior college. Fortunately I had so many credits already that I was able to finish in only 2 semesters. It was a lot cheaper and more practical. And they were by no means in a category that I would term as well to do. But as Laag mentions, there still weren't alot of good paying job opportunities. The only folks making pretty good money seemed to be those who owned (not worked for) design/build firms. But they were by no means exactly well to do either but just making a respectable living instead of eeking by on minimum wage....See MoreKitchen Redesign -- 1st post -- need advice
Comments (4)Can you put the sink on the wall where you currently show the fridge/dw, moving dw to the end where the fridge is. Then fridge down beside the pantry, stove pretty much where it is. And a small prep sink on the island close to fridge end. That would make the kitchen work better re. your stated goals re. 1 cooker/baker and 1 helper/cleaner. It would let you have the ice tea maker and vitamix between fridge and stove (with water handy at the prep sink behind), keeping snackers, tea drinkers, and smoothie makers out of your main cooking/baking space. And you could use the area between range and sink as your baking area with your kitchenaid mixer and bread machine, utilizing the depth of the corner counter depth for their regular storage while still having the usable countertop in front when needed. The breville might work in that run too. It would mean you couldn't reuse your corner sink base, but it looks like you have the other corner cab by the peninsula that you could repurpose for that space. Good luck!...See MoreHelp me one last time on layout
Comments (54)The Queen Beeotch loves the Q plan. DW is placed right, love the windows, love the sight lines you'll have from dining room to backyard through the two sets of French Doors that are perfectly lined up and give you a great walking path behind the island seating, love that you have a functional layout, and I love the inspiration pic for the pantry wall. By Jove, I think you've got it. Oh, you must bless us with a reveal thread when it's done. I think this is going to be a fantastic kitchen!...See Moredcward89
