Pls help me decide on oaks to line the driveway
Comments (40)Sherry, it's good to know that about Bluff oak. If they're slow growing, then there would be no reason to choose them over White oak. I still really recommend Swamp Chestnut oak though. At three years mine is 10ft tall. Pam, longleaf pines can have some aggressive roots because they like to grow deep into the soil. In nature they have a taproot 6-10ft long. Just make sure you're not buying too large a tree in too small of a container. Before you buy, slip the container off and look for any large circling roots. If you see circling roots, pass it up and look for a smaller one. I prefer the smaller ones in the grass stage myself because they have the advantage of being able to put more roots down before height growth. We're really only talking a year or so difference in time....See MoreWe're down to 2 wood floors, help me decide which one!
Comments (2)4 boys? Which one shows spill spots, footprints and little dropped whatevers less??? (My mom had a white on white tile from kitchen through greatroom style dining room and family room. She replaced it with a dark wood -no grain- plank style pre-engineered flooring thinking it would be easier to keep looking clean. WRONG! She now wishes she'd gone with the lighter, but grained 'traditional hardwood floor' color style like her bedroom real wood floors.)Just a thought....See MorePls Help Me Decide bet. Comments (5)Juliet my Juliet, Wherefore art thou ??? If $15 doesn't matter, go for both. Give your self a treat. I have 4 different size SS Pots and 3 Sizes in Sauce Pans. It is according to the amounts you will be cooking. 4 quarts is big for a saucepan but you may not be filling it to the top any way. It's all in how much you can lift. If I had a choice , I would get a 2 Quart Sauce Pan and a 8 Quart SS Pot but That's what I use mostly for making Soups and Spaghetti sauce. The smaller Sauce Pan for simmering smaller amounts. That's just for me. You will have to decide what you will be cooking. Romeo LOL Lou...See MorePls help me decide - Maax rubix or Hydrosystens Lacey for alcove?
Comments (2)I have no personal experience with either of these. I need to replace an alcove tub in one of my bathrooms so I have been researching these items. My current tub is a 20year old swanstone tub which has a very solid feel and there is no flexing. I started out looking at the Rubix but my three choices will be between: Hydrosystems Looking at the Marlie with the hidden drain and an option for a linear drain to increase the soaking depth. This also has heat as an option. The heat is not related to whirlpools since I don't want a whirlpool or soaking tub. My only apprehension is with the Acrylic material. It has been hard to find these brands on display. The displayed hydrosystem products are the freestanding tubs which use the crushed stone type material that is heavier and denser than Fiberglass. MTI This has linear drains and heat. My only apprehension is with the Acrylic material. It has been hard to find these brands on display. The displayed MTI products are the freestanding tubs which use the crushed stone type material that is heavier and denser than Fiberglass. They do offer the option of getting a thicker fiberglass material. I may call to get a sample. Wetstyle Lot of customizations but no heat options. This is a crushed stone option and will not have any flexing that I can determine. Good luck with your search!...See Morelisa_a
