Ideas to get rid of grass/weeds along fence row.
Comments (23)Intherosegarden has got the answer! "Weed flaming" was once a popular technique that is being revived, with excellent results and organic approved. The reasons why are: it is cost and labor effective, can be done when fields are wet, it does not bring dormant seeds to the surface, and does not set anything on fire, as it simply 'boils' the water out of the cellular structure. Use the torch to melt ice on walkways and driveways. Always use the Red Dragon Brand or you will be sorry. You can get a flamer squeeze valve with a pilot light on the handle, a backpack kit or a dolly. Heavy duty torches are available. I can do 100 acres of fence before lunch....See MoreAdvice please...What to plant along this fence
Comments (9)Filipendula rubra (Queen of the Prairie) would be a nice tall plant with delicate lacy leaves and flowers. Joe Pye Weed spreads and gets tall, and Swamp Milkweed is nice and attracts the butterflies - also the butterfly bushes mentioned above. If this was my garden I'd plant lots of tall things in the back, by the fence, then fill in the front with low growing things like Lady's Mantle, Adriatic Bellflowers (the yellow leaved ones), a Nearly Wild rose, veronicas, etc. I hope you have had fun with it, you should update us with a more recent pic!...See MoreNeed for portable privacy screens option for install along fence line
Comments (2)We are thinking that we will place them on the ground (on top of screening and landscape fabric) and level them out. Then cover the base with large river rock to weight them down. We could also drill pilot holes on the front and back side of the base to allow us to screw them into the ground with anchors. We could use rectangular planters in front to hold decorative grasses. We would need deeper bases than shown below but this idea. Planters and river rock to disguise the base of the screen. We like the wider board look as it's cleaner....See MoreFencing - ideas for easy mowing along run?
Comments (6)Are you not wanting to weed eat around the fence area? Or not wanting the neighbor to have to weed eat? If you’re worried about your neighbor having to maintain the fence, you could put it slightly into your property and then maintain around it so they wouldn’t have to. I would not do river rock, it will end up a weedy grassy mess and you’ll end up throwing rocks with your mower. Mulch would also require some sort of edging to keep it from washing into the yard. What about some sort of flat pavers set flush with the ground along the fence?...See Moremarytxo
