Having some problems with Tomato & Pepper Plants + Rabbits!
Comments (3)Before making a vegatable garden, I grew peppers on containers on my deck. I had problems with rabbits eating them, and chipmunks digging in the pots. I fabricated some cylindrical shaped fences to slip over the containers, and it worked like a charm. Note though, that you need bees and insects to pollinate, so once you hit flowering, a more open design is beneficial, something wide enough to allow the bees to easily drop in, do their thing, and get out. I find that if you can't elevate your pots out of harms way, that fencing is the only surefire remedy. I'm no tomato expert, so I can't help on that one. Joe...See MoreBlood Meal for Rabbit Problems
Comments (2)Blood meal deterred the rabbits, but my dog ate my plants when I tried it. My dog then threw up the plants inside the house which is how I knew what happened. I decided I'd rather have the rabbit damage. Now I use Liquid Fence and that works fairly well. You have to reapply it after a rain and a determined rabbit will still damage some plants, but it works better than anything else I've tried other than a good fence....See MoreAnyone else now have digestive problems, feeling sick after meals?
Comments (2)I have a similar reaction.. I may feel really hungry but then start to eat and can only eat very little. Often I have a lot of gas pain etc. after eating. I used to eat whatever I wanted as well with no worries but when my other menopause symptoms developed, the nausea and eating issues surfaced as well. I also developed a sudden intolerance of beer and wine to the point of feeling very sick ( headaches, nausea etc) the next day. I can tolerate a bit of whiskey but I really just avoid alcohol now. I also developed issues with burping which I never had before as well! I have had a full gastrointestinal workup and no issues have shown up. The Dr decided to slap me with a diagnosis of IBS-C because of the constipation that has also developed. I would however as suggested above, see a gastroenterologist just to be sure. However you are certainly not alone in these changes. Menopause has been a crazy ride and I can see why they call it "The Change"!...See MoreI think (or hope) I've solved my rabbit problem
Comments (23)Althea, I know I shouldn't, but your description made me laugh. We try so hard and they still outwit us with their tiny brains. I can't really tell whether my plan is working since we've had a wet year and there's more for the bunnies to eat other than the garden. However, I have no doubt that if they get hungrier they'll eat what's poking out between the holes at the very least, or they might do what yours did and eat the plastic to get to the bushes. It's just a line of defense that will make it a bit more difficult for them and meanwhile at least some of the roses will have a chance to grow taller, out of their reach. It's an imperfect world and I will always have a very imperfect garden, but if I can reach some sort of detente with the furry ones, along with providing them with vittles that we buy for then, it will be good enough. Being able to see them cavort around the yard, with not much fear of us, is a gift also, almost as much as my roses are to me. It means even more to my non-gardening husband, and for that alone I'll put up with quite a bit of their shenanigans....See Moreorganic_kitten
