Thank God we are still not flooded! The creek behind us was out of the bank on the far side and that area has flooded with some streets under water. The bank on our side of the creek is higher and had not come over the bank as of last night but we got a lot more rain last night so I don't know what it will do. The same Creek has flooded in other areas pretty bad so we know it can't take much more. The forecast is looking a little more hopeful this week. I have mold starting to grow around the house, I am spraying bleach water every where I even suspect the possibility.

Thanks for thinking about us. Are you dry today?

Not only dry, but the sun is shining, and no god awful wind. Still coughing, but not as bad, and I will get out on my bike later.

I hope EVERYONE is getting some sunshine soon. and, that the flood waters subside!

Convert a Natural Pond to dry land

Pumping isn't an option and filling isn't an option...Well that's pretty limiting but if the pond is above the surrounding landscape like when a berm is used to build a pond, then the berm can be torn down in a spot to let water drain away. I assume this isn't a pond you have to keep adding water too because the answer would be pretty simple. If the pond was built in a low spot where you get rain and/or snow you're up against the laws of physics. You'd have to build a roof over the pond to keep out the water. Kind of silly for 1/3 acre. If the pond was built where there's a high water table or is spring fed even pumping wouldn't work. Unless big pumps running all the time were used. If this pond was scraped out of the low spot the soil removed is still likely still there, even if it isn't apparent. A dozer can be hired to push the surrounding soil back into the pond. It might mean scraping something like 1 acre to fill 1/3 acre. And the result might still be a low spot. Some ponds are made as the cheapest way to get rid of a marsh type spot.

Elvie, you should definitely get back there to check out that Agave, which has two fantastic bloom spikes on it now. Richard was so proud of it, and it is probably the oldest/largest example of its kind here in northern California...

Freaking out over Raven decision - is it too dark?

Just want to follow-up with all you Raven lovers: We're about to begin Week 7 of our kitchen remodel and the bamboo cabinets are in and looking good - Friday the Raven C-stone countertops went in and they are TOTALLY GORGEOUS. DH and I are thrilled and feel it was the perfect choice - it plays off the light neutral of the cabinets beautifully, has a similar tone but at the same time grounds things - (I don't really know this lingo but have picked up a few things so am doing my best to describe...) so thank you all for your support as I angsted my way through that decision. I didn't realize how worried about that choice DH was until he saw it and breathed the hugest sigh of relief I've ever seen! I'll post pix eventually - want to wait until the appliances are in, etc. so it all shows to best advantage. Remodelfa - I did order a sample of the backsplash you suggested and although it is beautiful, the colors are very different than what it looks like online, and after living with it for a while, we decided it just didn't work. But thank you for the suggestion - it was very close. We're considering tabling the backsplash til later at this point, but will see how things look when everything's in there. Thank you all again!

We have sunshine right now too. And my awesome radar app is not showing any giant ugly storms heading our way.

Glad to hear you are finally feeling better and able to ride. I am hoping that everyone's allergies can take a break if it dries out some!

Hope you don't get any more rain! Keep your eyes peeled for copperheads now. I live in a nice apt complex yet I've killed 2 snakes and 3 scorpions!
